After School Program

Girls Inc. is dedicated to offering programs that enhance learning, encourage creativity and teach life skills. After school programs can support social, emotional, cognitive, and academic development, reduce risky behaviors, promote physical health, and provide a safe and supportive environment. Our quality programs provide opportunities that increase learning time and are more engaging to broadening interests and increase knowledge. Examples of our classes for this session are Reading, Around the World Foods, Power Up, Dollars Sense & Me, Fall Crafts, Sports Fun, Computer Coding & Zelda. We couldn't offer great programing without our wonderful supporters and donors. We appreciate volunteers that partner with us to offer additional programs in STEM & Reading. Together we inspire all girls to be strong, smart & bold.

Program Focus

FriendlyPEERsuasion is an important alcohol, tobacco and drug abuse prevention program delivered by Girls Inc. to both boys and girls in Jackson County schools. Working in part with the Jackson County Free Drug Council, Inc., the Community Foundation & Jackson County United Way to help youth to develop skills to resist pressure of using harmful substances, such as drugs, alcohol, tobacco, vaping and inhalants. Our program targets the years during which youth begin to more fully experience and respond to influence and pressures from their peers to participate in risky behaviors.

Turkey Trot

The annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot 5K Walk/8K Run is in the planning stages. We are always amazed at the number of participants that turn out for the popular event. The event begins at 7:30 AM and is usually completed by 9:30 AM. You can get your walk or run in before you feast. Watch for registration information soon!
