In every election across the country, National Wildlife Refuges are on the ballot. From establishing appropriate budgets to securing environmental protections, our collective power to elect representatives who will support our irreplaceable National Wildlife Refuge Systems is more important now than ever.

Our wildlife refuges provide all Americans with numerous benefits including protecting biodiversity, cleaning our water and air, removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, and helping stem the worst of climate change. Yet these lands, and in particular their wildlife, cannot vote for their own protection. We have to be their voice.

We encourage you to register to vote, research your candidates, and Vote As If Your (Wild)Life Depended On It.

Volunteers Needed to Table at el Tigre Fest

We're excited to announce that the El Tigre Fest is returning on October 5th, and we need your help to make it a success!

The Friends of the Refuge have been a proud participant in this wonderful community event for the past three years, and we're looking for volunteers to help us staff our table. Your time and energy will make a huge difference in helping us share information about our amazing Refuge Complex and the work of the Friends with the community.

We're seeking 4-6 volunteers to work three shifts throughout the day:

• Set Up: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
• Midday: 2:00 PM - 6:30 PM
• Evening & Clean Up: 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM

If you're interested in volunteering, please contact Bonnie with the subject line "El Tigre Volunteer." We'll be happy to provide you with more information about the event and what you can expect as a volunteer.

We hope you'll consider joining us at the El Tigre Fest! Your support is invaluable to our mission of protecting and preserving the Refuge Complex.

Blue Bags Are Back In Stock- Pick Up In The Visitor Center

We Have Raised $1,292.65 towards our Annual Goal of $2,000.00 Last year we raised $1,783.90

An important notice from Oregon Bottle Drop about donations for the Friends program. Here's the key takeaway:

• Donations must be placed in the blue bags provided by the Friends, not in trash bags with a Friends' sticker.
• Remove any unrelated items (including trash) from the blue bag before drop-off to ensure your donation is counted.

Donate your cans and bottles to the Friends!

1. Stop by the Visitor Center and pick up Blue Bottle Drop Bags

2. Fill the bags up with cans- (only fill halfway if donating glass)

3. Drop off at your nearest Donation site

4. No need to wait in line- there is a drop off door just for you!

If you have your own Bottle Drop account you can also donate directly to The Friends of Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge from your account.

By following these guidelines, you can help ensure the success of the Friends program and Oregon Bottle Drop's participation in it.
