Good Afternoon St. Stephen families,

We had another carline success this week! By starting 5 minutes early and making a few adjustments, the morning carline is done by 7:40. Thank you, everyone, for helping to make this happen.

Don't forget that tomorrow, Sept. 4, is a half-day, and school is closed on Monday. Dismissal will be at noon, and we will be using PikMyKid just like on regular school days.

Bishop Parkes asks all parishes in the diocese to pray for an end to racism in our communities and country on Wednesday, September 9th, the Memorial of St. Peter Claver, the 17th century Jesuit priest who ministered to enslaved Africans in Colombia. This will also be our fist in-person Mass at church. On Sept. 9, grades 6-8 will attend Mass at 9:45 am hosted by our 8th-grade students. The Mass will only be for the students and their teachers. Parents of 8th graders are invited to join since that class is hosting the Mass. The church will be locked at 9:45 so that no one else may attend. Parents may attend only when their child's class is hosting Mass.

The Office of Catholic Schools has asked schools to conduct a one-day student appeal to help our brothers and sisters in the Diocese of Lake Charles. Teachers will be discussing the devastation with students on Tuesday in Religion class, and then we are asking students to bring in a donation on Wed., Sept. 9 to help those who suffered due to Hurricane Laura. While we all have our challenges right now, we are called to help those whose needs are more significant. Every student who brings in a donation on Wednesday may also have a free dress day, the same day. We are asking that the donation be at least $1.00 but any donation is appreciated.

Finally, I have some sad news to share. Our middle school math and science teacher, Amy Lamvermeyer will be leaving the school. Her last day is Sept. 18. She is pursuing an opportunity that presented itself that works best for her and her family, and she will be greatly missed. We are working hard to find a replacement and appreciate everyone spreading the word that a position is available. If you know anyone who may be interested, please have them email me at lumoh@sscsfl.org.

If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me.

Peace and Blessings,

Linda Umoh

Watch for details about the 2021 Angels Valentine Gala to be held at the Palmetto Club in February.
PikMyKid
We would like to take a moment to remind everyone that you you must check in your student every morning and fill out the Covid- 19 Questionnaire.

Are you missing the Covid-19 questionnaire in the mornings?
The Covid-19 questionnaire must be answered every morning when you check your child in. We have noticed that not everyone is seeing these questions. To make the questions pop up, 1st click Check In, 2nd click on the check mark beside your child's name on the check in page, and 3rd if the questions do not pop up, click the check mark again.

Afternoon carline update: We are doing better each day! To help us move you through the queue more quickly, please do not announce on the app until you reach the PikMyKid stop sign. Announcing too early makes it harder to find your child's name on the list. Thank you!
