If you could have a drink with anyone, who would it be and why?
As of late, my dad. I lost him last year and he was my rock, my biggest fan, and my confidant. I like to think that I get my ambition, my kindness, and my sense of humor from my pops – he was hands-down, one of the coolest “Katz” ever! If only I could just hear him tell me his favorite Jewish “dad” joke again (for the hundredth time 😊).
It goes a little like this:
An elderly couple Sam and Sadie, were at a cocktail party down in Florida and the subject of Mozart comes up. Wanting to join in the conversation and sound sophisticated, Sadie says, “Oh, I saw Mozart on the #5 bus to the beach the other day!” Embarrassed by her faux pas, Sam quickly pulls Sadie aside and says to her, “What are you doing?! You sound crazy! Everybody knows the #5 bus doesn’t go to the beach!”
What are 5 of your most favorite things?
- Live music and concerts – Not limited to but typically reggae; no matter what kind of day I’ve had, if I turn on some reggae, it’s impossible to not feel good and lift one’s spirits with its cool beat and positive vibes!
- Watching Colorado sunsets
- Spending time with friends and family
- Kindness
-
….and a tie for 5th between sushi and Mom’s homemade stuffed peppers
What is your most rewarding experience?
Seven years after my undergrad, going back to school and completing my Master’s program. It was a lot of hard work in an accelerated environment, while also working full-time, but earning my Master of Arts degree in the end was so worth it!
What are your pet peeves?
- People who aren’t nice to dogs.
- People who don’t use your name when talking, texting, or emailing.
- Poor grammar – when someone doesn’t know the difference between they’re, their, and there! And “irregardless” and “excetera” are not real words!
- “Squatters” who sit in the passing lane and don’t get over to let others pass.
- And lastly, when you let someone in on the road and they don’t wave to say thanks!
What was your craziest adventure so far?
Visiting Tokyo has been my craziest and greatest adventure so far! Experiencing the wildly bizarre and insane Robot Restaurant (seriously, check it out – www.shinjuku-robot.com), crossing the famous intersection at the Shibuya Crossing with over 2,500 people (The famous Shibuya crossing - 90 seconds - YouTube), and taking a cable car up to see a panoramic view of Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi – the entire trip was breathtaking, daunting, intimidating, cool, and amazing all at the same time!
