Cara Rossi knows the area and banking
Cara Rossi
Cara Rossi is a new Credit Analyst for Hyperion Bank, bringing 26 years’ banking experience to the role. She has spent the last 20 years partnering with business clients in the tristate area, assisting in evaluating their efficiencies, finances and time management.

Cara began her banking career as a teller, working her way to branch manager in 2004. She has assisted a wide variety of businesses with their banking needs across many industries. Her favorite part of the job? “I’ve had the pleasure of meeting the most interesting people,” she says.

Having lived in South Philadelphia all of her life, Cara is proudly the second-generation of her family born in America, with ancestors hailing from Sicily and Greece. Her husband Billy is her best friend and travel partner. Together they have three wonderful children, two amazing grandsons, two feline fur babies and a grand dog who loves to sleep over.

Away from work, Cara makes almost anything from scratch and enjoys traveling “every chance I get.” In fact, she has been to every state on the East Coast from Maine to Key West and has been to every destination in the Beach Boys’ song “Kokomo.” For the record that’s: Aruba, Jamaica, Bermuda, Bahamas, Key Largo, Montego, Kokomo (natch), Martinique, Montserrat, Mustique, and Port Au Prince. (You’re humming the song now, right?)

Cara is a published writer by way of a poem she wrote in 2003 that was published in a book of poetry and a short story that was published on a ghost story web site. Please help us welcome Cara!
Epilepsy Run
Jim McAlpin
Hyperion Board member takes aim at Epilepsy
Epilepsy Run
Jim McAlpin – a member of Hyperion’s Board & a Partner with law firm Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner – and Hyperion’s Charlie Crawford recently ran the Epilepsy Foundation of Georgia’s 39th Magnolia Run and Walk. The two came in 2nd and 4th in their shared age group in the 5k; we’ll let them tell you which placed where.

Jim previously served on the board of the Epilepsy Foundation of Georgia, including three years as Chair, and now serves on the national board. His 13-year involvement with the organization was initially driven by the fact that he has a(n adult) daughter with severe epilepsy.

“I wanted to work to help ensure there is epilepsy support here in Georgia – and nationally,” Jim says. Among the many activities of the Epilepsy Foundation of Georgia, he notes a summer camp, a medical fund to help those with difficulty affording treatment, a job placement service, training for school nurses, advocacy and more.

The organization’s stated mission: A future in which epilepsy and seizures are understood, accepted, and conquered. The Epilepsy Foundation of Georgia serves more than 110,000 Georgians with a seizure disorder. EFGA’s website shares ways to support the organization, as well as educational & other resources, including a 24/7 helpline.

We’re proud that our community bank leaders are leaders of many community efforts.

Charlie also captured the photo of Jim McAlpin with Epilepsy Foundation/Georgia Executive Director Aly Clift and the group’s Board Chair James F. (Jim) Hlavenka, Esq., who is Head of Strategy & Operations and Chief of Staff for UCB, Inc.

Charlie Crawford talks PHL regional real estate
Hyperion’s Charlie Crawford is among the banking & financial experts included in an article in a recent Philadelphia Inquirer article about the region’s real estate industry.

“We had the largest loan growth in the first six months (of 2023) that we’ve ever had,” Charlie tells the writer. “Our forecast for the second half of the year certainly is slower, but there still remains a low inventory of housing.” The article notes that new development in Hyperion-adjacent neighborhoods Northern Liberties, Fishtown, and parts of Kensington has been robust.

SBA Lending
Why an SBA Loan?
Hyperion is on the small-business line with you
SBA Loans make capital more accessible so more small businesses can start & grow their businesses. The U.S. Small Business Administration partners with select lenders like Hyperion, which reduces risk, freeing up more capital for small businesses in amounts ranging from $25,000 to much higher.

Hyperion proudly partners with SBA to help small business owners – in Metro Atlanta, the Philly region & beyond – obtain financing to start or expand a business. And being a community bank, Hyperion is a small business itself, so we have that shared perspective.

Small businesses typically use SBA Loans to fund:
âś“ Working capital: seasonal financing, export loans, revolving credit, refinanced business debt.
âś“ Long-term fixed assets: furniture, real estate, machinery, equipment, construction, remodeling

Hyperion’s experienced, accessible & enthusiastic bankers leverage local decision
making to quickly help you determine if you are eligible for an SBA Loan and guide you
through the process.

Contact the Hyperion banker you are already working with or Hyperion SBA Expert Susan Battle to quickly determine your eligibility + learn more.
