The Aleph Bet of Job Hunting in Canada

Screams Before Silence

Film screening and panel discussion

In-person free screening of Sheryl Sandberg’s documentary film, Screams Before Silence on the sexual violence committed by Hamas on October 7. The film features never-before heard eyewitness accounts from released hostages, survivors, and first responders.

Speakers: Dr. Deirdre Butler, Dr. Peggy Kleinplatz, Pastor Bob Davies. Location will be shared with registrants.

ZOOM event. UnXeptable is a grassroots movement launched by Israeli expats in support of a democratic Israel. Professor Oded Oron and Yael Meiri will discuss the origins and mission of UnXeptable: to support the values on which the country was established - social justice and democracy.


High Holiday Preparation

September 15

11 am - 12:15 pm

ZOOM presentation: Rabbi Deborah Zuker will examine in detail prayers that are unique to High Holiday worship services including Malchuyot/Zichronot/Shofarot on Rosh Hashanah; and Kol Nidre and U’netaneh Tokef on Yom Kippur; and other sections of the Amidah unique to each holiday.

Congregation Machzikei Hadas Back to Shul Shabbat

Children in kindergarten-Grade 6 and their parents /grandparents will join Rabbi Idan Scher for a lively interactive Family Service with tefillah, songs, and prizes! Pre-teens/teens are invited to join NCSY leaders for a fun learning session (snacks included). Our baby/toddler room is open all morning with Shabbat Circle Time at 11:15 am. Join us!

Launch of the KBI Queer Storytelling Workshop

Batia Winer, a proud member of KBI and the 2SLGBTQ1+ community, will facilitate six two-hour workshops to practice writing and presenting our stories in a safe space. Queer Jews of all ages have stories of love, joy, heartbreak, and acceptance to tell. Workshops will culminate in sharing our stories in front of an audience in 2025.
