Governor Stacey's Message

Greetings Sierra Nevada Region!
Well, it’s still over 100 degrees hot here in Southern Nevada, but you know what, Fall is on the way, and I can’t wait! It is truly my favorite time of year! As we get ready for all our Region’s Fall District Meetings, I am already drafting my second board meeting agenda for the end of October! Don’t forget the deadline for our Club Endowment Grant Applications is due September 15th so the Region Board can vote on them at the upcoming October Region Board meeting. Here’s the application ENDOWMENT GRANT APPLICATION LINK . This can also be found on our Region Webpage under Member Info Tab/Forms.
Now let’s talk about Diamond Dreams - What could be better than our clubs getting support from our Sierra Nevada Region Leadership and Presenters to help turn their club dreams into a reality at our annual (SDR) Soroptimist Development Retreat? Being able to share that knowledge and excitement through our own Region YouTube Channel! Make sure to watch our new YouTube Channel where had some amazing workshops. We want to share the knowledge and help all our clubs in our region reach their dreams. Federation Public Awareness Chair Danielle Kennedy will tell you all about it!
We had such a fun and fantastic time in Reno, and I could not have been prouder on hearing all the great feedback we received for our SDR event. For those who had the opportunity to attend, I truly hope that you took back some great ideas, and information to assist your clubs as we get to back to business for this new club year.
I want to Congratulate the following attendees:
SDR Early bird registration winner: Atlantis Spa Day certificate- Amy Louis, SI Chico
1st timer: FREE Registration for Conference 2025: Stacy Delaney SI Rancho Cordova/Gold River
1st timer: Atlantis stay certificate - Linda ‘Mo’ Turner SI Pahrump Valley
50/50 winner: $375 winner - Annemarie Vincent SI Folsom/El Dorado Hills
SDR Social Media winners:
- Amanda Diaz SI Redding
- Roberta Benvenuto SI SLT
- SI Truckee Meadows
(check out the winners Social Media Posts!!) You can ask SNR Parliamentarian Nancy Becker about the photo of how many Soroptimists can fit into a bathtub!

|
Lastly, I wanted to remind you all that SIA has an exciting new member engagement initiative called Soroptimists UpliftHER! Hear all the details during an exclusive webinar on September 10 at 8 p.m. (ET). The webinar will feature live interpretation in all languages. Plus, a recording will be emailed to all registrants and available on our YouTube channel. Be the first to hear this exciting news! REGISTER HERE. Thanks for the read and until next time…Let’s Make those Dreams SOAR!

Governor Elect Kathy's Message
|
|
Greetings Beautiful Members!
Well, I am happy to have my first Soroptimist Development Retreat under my belt as your new SDR Coordinator and I learned lots from it! I hope you, who were able to attend, enjoyed the workshops, meeting your new District Director and other Soroptimists as well as the overall experience of being immersed in Soroptimist, Sierra Nevada Region. I know I did! (Of course, after the initial nervousness of coordinating the event with the confidant Governor Stacey guiding me!).
Next up…the Fall District Meetings are upon us, and they will be chocked full of information from our Governor Stacey, Region Board members and Federation chairs. So, please register for yours today! If you cannot attend your own District’s, then you are most certainly welcome to register for any of the other five scheduled. You will see the Calls attached to this e-blast. I look forward to seeing you at the meetings.
Thank you all for being kind, wonderful and Inspiring Members!!

ENDOWMENT GRANT 9/15 APPLICATION DEADLINE
Does your club have a great idea for a project or program to make a positive impact in your community, but are short on the funds to fuel it? Help is available! The Sierra Nevada Region has our Endowment Fund available for clubs to apply for financial assistance.
.
The Endowment Fund is a grant program that will give up to $1000 to qualifying applicants/clubs. Clubs can be eligible for the grant no more than 2 times for the same project. The grant is for a new project or a continued project. The funds for the grant are raised from the raffle ticket sales of gift baskets that are donated from our region clubs and raffled off at the Sierra Nevada Region conference. The application is available on the Sierra Nevada Region website.
The Endowment Committee consists of 4 region members who will review the applications for completeness and then vote whether or not to approve the request before submitting the grant applications to the Sierra Nevada Region Board of Directors for final approval. There is still time to get your application in for the September 15th deadline! If you can't get it in by then, still apply to be eligible for the March 2025 deadline. If you received a previous endowment grant, you must submit an Endowment Grant Impact Report to be eligible to apply for a new grant.
The Endowment Committee and the SNR Board members look forward to dispersing these funds. I encourage all clubs with new programs to apply for this Endowment Grant. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact me at endowment@soroptimistsnr.org.

SNR Endowment Coordinator

SNR ROSTER ALMOST COMPLETE!
Hello! As we enter September and the ending of summer, we should all be excited for the new Soroptimist year! Yay!
Please access the roster on the SNR website. It is updated monthly at the beginning of the month, so a fresh new one is posted! Thank you to the website team! And thank you to all the clubs that have sent in their updates.
There are only seven clubs, plus one who needs to confirm a piece of information, that have not sent updates to the roster yet. If you are wondering if you are in one of those clubs, email me at: roster@soroptimistsnr.org.
I will be reaching out to those last clubs this month to try to get some information. Please let the region leadership know if your club is having any struggles in getting shiny new information sent in.
Having a fully updated and accurate roster helps every member in our region so I hope to report soon that our roster is fully updated.
Thank you for your time and email me at the address above with any questions or concerns.

It’s that time of year again when we start getting excited about the Live Your Dream Awards. The online Live Your Dream Awards application system will be open to accept applications on Aug. 15, 2024. If you’re wondering why we no longer call it the “application portal” our new database has a member portal for member resources. The terminology has been changed to avoid any confusion. SIA staff will now refer to the application portal as the Live Your Dream Awards online application system.
In the meantime, Club LYD chairs can sign the confidentiality agreement which is linked here.
If your club doesn’t have a LYD chair, your club president will need to sign the confidentiality agreement as well as fulfill the LYD Chair responsibilities.
Thank you,
Billie Araiza
