THERE WITHIN LIES THE GOSPEL: TRUTH OFFERS BACKDROP FOR LAUNCH OF PIGMENT MAGAZINE IN BALTIMORE

Baltimore’s Galerie Myrtis was the setting for several events over Labor Day Weekend including the opening of There Within Lies the Gospel: Truth featuring many of the gallery’s preeminent artists.

The exhibition opening also served as a launch event for Pigment Magazine IV which chronicles Myrtis Bedolla’s mounting of The Afro-Futurist Manifesto: Blackness Reimagined during the 2022 Venice Biennale.  Gracing the cover of the magazine is work by Chatmon.

This exhibition, which continues through October 21, celebrates the rich history of Black religious and spiritual traditions while also challenging the ways in which these practices continue to evolve and adapt in response to contemporary social and cultural realities.
