Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost

LET'S EAT!

God's people have always been eager

to holler out this invitation -

LET'S EAT!

Indeed, it is the first question of the newly resurrected Jesus to his bewildered disciples. "Do you have something to eat?"

Ever since Jesus asked it, it has been one the best ways we have come up with to learn to follow Jesus. We eat together. And we eat with people we don't yet know. In that eating together we experience in powerful ways that God is present among us.

We had a wonderful start this past Wednesday to our Community Cafe! New connections were made and we welcomed a number of folks to our church for the very first time.

Continuing next Wednesday, September 13, and every Wednesday until the end of the year, we will continue to throw open the doors of the Allen House and offer lunch to whoever wants to show up. There is no agenda and no aim other than to offer this amazing community to our community in a new way. I invite you to think about who you know that would value this time of fellowship and community building and bring them along.

The amazing thing about following Jesus together is that we never really know what God is going to show us when we sit and eat together.

I hope you can join us on Sundays and I invite you to consider taking part in the other upcoming fall opportunities that are offered in this weekly email to deepen our relationships and give thanks to God for the gift and beauty of this place, the gift of life and the simple gift of one another.

See you Sunday!

David

Nursery Spotlight

We would like to welcome Piper Scott, who began leading our nursery team this past Sunday!

Piper relocated to Colorado Springs with her family two years ago from the East Coast. She is a homeschooling mom of a 7th grader, Freya, who keeps her busy running between swim practice and volleyball practice. Her husband works an orbital analyst for Space Force.

Piper has had the opportunity to live and teach all across the US and Africa. She is a former Peace Corps and AmeriCorps volunteer and worked as a study abroad instructor before becoming a mom.

Piper's hobbies include caring for her "fur babies," reading, learning foreign languages, and camping with her family. She says, "We love visiting National Parks and watching the night sky. I'm excited to meet you all!"

Food Pantry

Our July Food Drive was a great success! Thanks to all your generous donations, we exceeded our goal of 500 grocery items and collected 545 items to donate to D2 Pantry. Many thanks to all for your offerings.

Thank you for continuing to bring your donations on Sundays.
