"Inspiring students to love God, their Catholic faith and learning"

Prayer for Remembrance and Healing

"Eternal God, our refuge and our strength, we turn to you today as we remember the attacks of September 11, 2001. We honor the memories of those who lost their lives and the courage of the first responders and ordinary citizens who showed immense bravery. Comfort and heal those who continue to suffer from the physical and emotional trauma of that day. Grant peace to their souls and strength to their families."

Celebration of St. Peter's Founders Day

Mrs. Brauner’s 7th and 8th-grade literature classes had the opportunity to learn about the rich history of St. Peter's campus in honor of Founder’s Day on September 8th. The students thoroughly enjoyed exploring old photographs and relics from the past.

They were amazed to discover that our school library once served as the 9th capital and hosted sessions for three months due to the fire at the capital. The library also featured a stage and held banquets, which made a lasting impression on them. Learning that the large flat area used to be a grassy field sparked a desire for such a play area today.

The students appreciated their current uniforms compared to those of the past and expressed a wish for the bowling alley to still be operational. Realizing the privilege of calling St. Peter School their home truly resonated with them.

If you ever get the chance, be sure to stop by Fr. Ahren’s room and the entrance to the Selinger Center to view the amazing pictures of the past.

We mourn the passing of Bishop Emeritus John Raymond Gaydos

With hope in the Resurrection and deep sadness, I share with you the news that Bishop Emeritus John Raymond Gaydos has been called home to the Lord. He died Saturday, September 6, at the age of 82 at St. Agnes Home in Kirkwood, Missouri.

Bishop Gaydos served our diocese with a shepherd’s care and an unwavering trust in the Holy Spirit. He led us through seasons of challenge and change, always pointing us toward hope and reminding us of God’s boundless mercy.

All are invited to join us in giving thanks for his decades of faithful service and in praying for the repose of his soul.

The wake and visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday, September 15, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with a Vigil Service and prayers at 7 p.m.
