On June 29th, COAL issued a call to action to support State Representative LaShawn Ford's African American Rapid Relief Task Force proposed executive order. Further, COAL volunteered to serve on this Task Force should an Executive Order be issued by Gover Pritzker. For the September Virtual Coalition Power Breakfast, to be held on September 12th, COAL is honored to host the Honorable LaShawn K. Ford, Illinois State Representative - 8th District (and COAL member) to discuss progress on the Rapid Relief Task Force executive order, ways the community can support this effort, as well as pressure the Governor to make it a high priority, and for Rep. Ford to present for discussion other initiatives and legislation of importance to COAL membership and the greater community.

This is someone we all can support.

What We Believe
The Coalition of African American Leaders believes that it is important to examine the critical issues confronting the African American community where injustice, inequality and the absence of access and opportunity continue to prevail, thereby negatively impacting us as a people. COAL is an assemblage that advocates and organizes for appropriate and responsible public policy change, system behavior change and equality of opportunity. We aim to achieve for all of our people the fullness of the life experience without any form of racism or exclusion as a deterrent. We believe we must prepare ourselves for the opportunity of this full participation, thereby achieving the necessary education and training to participate.
