Girl Scouts at TCGIS
DID YOU KNOW: a majority of female CEOs, public servants, and astronauts were Girl Scouts? We're starting a fourth year of having a troop based at TCGIS and there's room for your daughter. She does not have to be a kindergartener to begin; we welcome new girls each year, grades K-8. If you are interested, attend our fall kick-off event on
Saturday, September 15, 3-5, at the TCGIS playground. You can also contact Cindy Miller at
cynmillbea@hotmail.com for more information.
We are also interested in adults with time and skills to share. You don't have to have a Girl Scout, have been a Girl Scout, or even have a daughter to join us! Volunteers could lead one event based on your skills and interest, help coordinate cookie sales, provide snacks for a meeting, or guide a small group at our monthly meetings. All help and support is appreciated.

Seeking: Elternkontakte & Classroom Volunteers
Elternontakte (EKs) are parent volunteers who facilitate communication between the teacher and the classroom parents/guardians. They communicate teacher requests for parent/guardian volunteers to chaperone field trips, assist with classroom projects and activities, and participate in grade-level events. Grades K-4 can have 2-3 Elternkontakte per class; middle school grades typically have 2 EKs per grade level. In addition to volunteering as an EK, there are many other ways to volunteer in your child's classroom, like those listed above.
If you are interested in volunteering as an EK and/or a Classroom Volunteer, please
complete this form by
Wed. Sept. 19. If you have questions, please email Katharina Schirg:
kschirg@tcgis.org.

2nd Grade Alphabet Forest
This week we started a project called the alphabet forest with all of the second grades. The children have to walk through the classrooms to find words for each letter of the alphabet and write them down. They can also do some activities in the different classrooms to collect more words. At the end of each session we dance the YMCA dance with the children which is a lot of fun. And at the end of the project, they will be crowned letter princesses and princes. We are very excited about this project and hope the children will enjoy it too and be able to improve their german vocabulary. |
