Peabody Speaker Series: Creating Outdoor Spaces that Connect Children with the Natural World

By Nancy Striniste, Founder and Principal Designer at EarlySpace, LLC

Come join us on October 3rd at 7PM in the Batten Building for engaging book talk by Nature Play founder Nancy Striniste. Nature play can awaken children’s senses, challenge their bodies, inspire their imaginations and build self-confidence. In order to grow up healthy and happy, children need abundant, unstructured time to play and explore in the natural world, but today’s children rarely have the opportunity to roam free outdoors. Bringing nature to the places where children spend their time is an answer.

Nancy will also be working with our Grade 4 Environmental Science classes to design a new natural playscape in our woods! We hope that you can join us on October 3rd! Please RSVP here.
Birthday Treats Reminder

We love celebrating our students' special day! Just a reminder that special treats for birthdays should be approved and scheduled in advance with the students’ teachers . Parents are encouraged to carefully consider the nutritional value of these treats and help us monitor the sugar content provided to students. Please consider alternatives to donuts, cookies, cupcakes etc . Birthday treats provided for the class should always take into account any students with dietary restrictions/allergies in the class. Contact the teacher for more information and guidelines.

Middle School Back to School Night

We are excited to officially welcome back all of our families during our Middle School Back to School Night. Families will have the opportunity to visit their student's classroom and get an overview of the program from the teacher. The Middle School night is being held next Thursday, September 19th. Please see the schedule for your child's classroom presentation. This is an adult only meeting. We hope you can join us!
High School Information Session September 19th

We cordially invite all middle school parents to our High School Information session on Thursday, 9/19 from 5:30-6 pm (prior to MS Back to School Night).  This 30-minute session gives an overview of local educational options and suggested next steps for high school planning.
Peabody Potluck

We hope you and your family can join us for a Peabody potluck on Sunday, October 6th from 3-5PM at Darden Towe. We'll kick off celebrations for Peabody's 25th anniversary with a casual, fun-filled afternoon at the park. Please be on the lookout for an invitation and food sign up sheet coming soon!
Middle School Attraction Books

It's that time of year again--we are selling Attractions Books to fundraise for the Peabody Middle School Music program! The goal is for each student to sell at least two Attractions Books. They can be sold to family, neighbors, teachers, or anyone else you can think of! If your student is unable to sell the two Attractions Books, that is completely fine.
We distributed Attractions Books to each student today during their Flex Block. Unsold books or $50, either via check or EZPay, are due back to the school no later than Friday, October 25th. This is the day of the school dance. Students will be expected to turn in their books/money before attending the middle school dance that evening. To keep track of who has paid, it is very important that if you are paying by check your student makes sure that their name and "Attractions Books" are written either in the memo line of the check, or on an envelope containing the check.
This letter contains payment information. If you have any other questions, please let Ms. Colleen know!
