Growing in faith, serving with love
Order for Worship - 15th Sunday after Pentecost
September 13, 2020
The Lord calls us together to worship and follow Christ. The Lord gathers us together to support one another in our faith journey. The Lord calls us together because God’s love wins! Join with everyone in your household and give praise to the One who is worthy of our worship. Lyrics for the hymn are provided in the description on the YouTube page.
Family, God’s Spirit gives us a constant source of mercy, comfort, and reconciliation. With confidence in the forgiveness that follows, let us confess to God where we have fallen short.

Pray aloud in unison with others who are gathered, both in body and spirit.
Lord, we thank you for giving us your Son, Jesus, to show us the strength and depths of your love. We thank you for showing us how to live, and most importantly, who to follow first. But we confess that we don’t always follow Jesus first. We become distracted by those on earth whom we adore instead of you, and often go stray of your way.

Forgive us when we don’t follow you. Help us to be like Christ in every way possible. Lead us to build your Kingdom!

Family, receive this Good News. God doesn’t just forgive us of everything that holds us back; God uses us to spread love, peace, and hope to our world. Be at peace with God and one another, for in Christ, we are forgiven, always and completely.
If you would like to share a joy or prayer concern, please email Pastor Dan at and your request will be shared in next week’s worship packet. Prayer requests will remain for 3 weeks unless updated.

New Testament Lesson: Philippians 3:17-4:1

Sermon: I Wanna Be Like Christ
Christ, at the core of his nature, was generous when he walked this earth. He was generous with his time, living to help others. He was generous with his wisdom, teaching us God’s ways. Ultimately, he was generous with his love, dying for our sake. We have an opportunity to be generous in return with our time, talents, and treasures. Let us all find one way to be more like Christ this week.

As we continue to embrace and share God’s love in this time, may the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit guide and sustain us until the day Christ comes again. Amen!
