SNO CONE SUNDAY

This Sunday, September 18, is the final Sno Cone Sunday of the year! These cool treats cost $1 and proceeds benefit the Project Hope Clean Water Well project. Learn more about this special mission at: dayspring-umc.org/project-hope.

FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT

Children’s Ministry is sponsoring a free indoor fall movie night next Friday, September 23. Bring blankets, pillows, and stuffed animals to snuggle with as we cozy up and watch a movie in Fellowship Hall. Doors open at 6:00pm, the movie starts at 6:30. Feel free to bring dinner. Chips and drinks will be available for purchase. Email Andrea for more information.

FLU SHOT CLINIC

We host our annual Flu/Pneumonia Immunization Clinic on September 25 from 8:30am until noon in the Fellowship Hall. You do not need to be a member of Dayspring to participate. Costs vary, depending on the type of immunization and insurance.

TAIZE SERVICE

Taizé brings a time for contemplative worship, involving sung and chanted prayers, meditation, a period of silence, liturgical readings, and icons - a time for you to spend in deep personal connection with God. Our next Taizé Service will be held in Fellowship Hall on September 25 at 4pm.

PRISON MINISTRY COLLECTION

FINAL WEEK

Dayspring's Prison Ministry will be collecting books and yarn for the women at Perryville State Prison in Goodyear AND household items for the Magdalene House in Avondale. Needed items for the transitional house include: toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent (pods, powder or liquid), dryer softener sheets, large refill sized liquid hand soap for bathrooms, 2 new angled brooms, Circle K or Quik Trip gasoline cards, and city bus passes. The team will have a table after services on September 18 for drop off. Please email Jane with questions.

CAP COLLECTION

We're collecting new and gently used baseball caps for asylum seekers. Please leave donations in the collection box outside the church office.

LITTLE FREE LIBRARY DONATIONS

The mission of Little Free Libraries is to be a catalyst for building community, inspiring readers, and expanding book access for all through a global network of volunteer-led Little Free Library locations. We are collecting new and gently used books to refill the Little Free Library by our Giving Garden. Current children’s books are in the highest demand, as are young adult fiction. Please bring donations to the collection boxes between September 25 and October 2.

REV. JEN BUTLER

Join Rev. Jen Butler, founder in residence of Faith in Public Life and author of Who Stole My Bible?, for the Faith in Democracy Tour at Dayspring Tempe on October 2. Rev. Butler will speak about the threat of white Christian nationalism during both the 9:00 and 10:30 services and will hold a 2:00 lecture and Q&A session to inspire and equip communities to reclaim our faith and protect our democracy. SOUTHWEST GAS CUSTOMERS CAN FIGHT RATE INCREASE

If you are a Southwest Gas customer (or know someone who is), now is the time to comment on an imminent, proposed rate increase. The increase will fund expansion of gas lines and boost profits at the expense of existing customers. Besides the impact of higher rates on lower income neighborhoods, the expanded use of methane (“natural”) gas will have 80 times the warming capacity of carbon dioxide. To get a fact sheet from Arizona Interfaith Power & Light on what you can do — phone call, in-person testimony or comment online — please email Sandy.
