FROM THE PTSA

STEP UP FOR THE COMMUNITY - MAKE A DONATION NOW!!

Thanks to our donors' generosity we have raised 56% of this year’s proposed budget.

If you haven’t donated yet, please make your contribution NOW. We need 100% to get this year’s PTSA programs off the ground: curriculum enrichment, Art Day, clubs, scholarships, staff appreciation, staff stipends, student stipends, library, music, DEI, community events, senior activities and so much more. Without your generosity, these programs will not happen as planned.

We ask for $225 from each family, and matching funds in addition, to cover the cost for all proposed plans. If you have questions, please reach out to treasurer@icsptsa.org.

Please step up for our community! You can donate online or send a check made out to “ICS PTSA” to the school.

FROM THE DEI COMMITTEE

When is Hispanic Heritage Month in 2024?

Hispanic Heritage Month is observed annually from September 15 to October 15. It is a time to appreciate and celebrate the colorful cultures, rich histories, and diversity of the American Latino community.

History of Hispanic Heritage Month

Observation of Hispanic Heritage Week started in 1968 under President Lyndon B. Johnson and was later extended to a 30-day celebration by President Ronald Reagan, starting on September 15 and ending on October 15. It was enacted into law via approval of Public Law 100-402 on August 17, 1988.

Traditions of the Day

The month is celebrated in a plethora of ways. As several other celebratory holidays fall during this month — such as the independence days of several Latin American countries — concerts, parades, food fairs, and more are organized throughout. Educational events like art exhibitions take place as well, highlighting important Latino heroes in history.
