Recognizing Propane Drivers During National Truck Driver Appreciation Week

September 14–20, 2025, marks National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, a moment to recognize the men and women who keep the propane industry moving. Across Texas and the nation, propane drivers do more than deliver fuel—they provide peace of mind to families, farms, and businesses. Their long hours, safety commitment, and customer service make them the unsung heroes of our industry.

Propane companies have a unique opportunity this week to shine a spotlight on their drivers’ essential contributions. A simple “thank you” goes a long way, but recognition becomes even more meaningful when it’s shared publicly.

  • Highlight Drivers Publicly: Post shout-outs on company bulletin boards, newsletters, or social media channels. Share stories of dedication, years of service, or above-and-beyond customer care. Even short testimonials can help customers put a face to the people behind safe and reliable propane delivery.

Propane companies can also expand their recognition beyond the yard. With support from the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC), you can download free social media graphics from the Resource Catalog. The collection includes customizable frames for driver shout-outs, ready-to-use appreciation graphics, and even propane-themed giphy stickers. These tools make it easy to create personalized, professional-quality posts that celebrate the individuals powering your business.

This week, let’s make sure our propane drivers feel seen, supported, and celebrated—not just by their employers, but by the communities they faithfully serve.

Avoiding Wasted Trips

Through Customer Communications

Based on an article from Propane Insider

Every propane delivery takes time, fuel, and planning. When drivers must return because of avoidable issues, costs rise and schedules suffer. One of the most effective ways to cut these problems is customer orientations and communications.

  • Clear Delivery Requirements - Blocked driveways, locked gates, or inaccessible tanks are top causes of wasted trips. Giving customers a short checklist before their first delivery can help keep tanks reachable and safe.
  • Safe Tank Practices - Simple instructions on safe placement, keeping areas clear, and when to call for service prevent delays and hazards.
  • Fuel Levels & Scheduling - Teaching customers how to check gauges and call before running out reduces last-minute emergencies and repeat visits.
  • Ongoing Support - Encourage questions and keep communication open. Informed customers make fewer mistakes and build stronger trust in their propane provider.
  • Bottom Line - Training isn’t just customer service — it’s a practical strategy that saves fuel, labor, and time while improving efficiency.
