Good Afternoon St. Stephen Families,

As many of you are aware, finding hourly wage employees is difficult. We know this because we see the Help Wanted signs everywhere. Our school is no different. We have been struggling to find people to work in our after-school program and as substitutes. At the moment, Mrs. Robles has been filling in with the Extended Day program along with all her other duties. As a solution, we are looking for parents who would like to earn volunteer hours by spending a couple of hours each day after school with our students in grades 5-8. You could sign up for a week, a month, every Monday, etc. We will work with your schedule. In order to volunteer, your background check and safe environment certification must be up-to-date. We could also use your help with covering lunch and helping with carline in the afternoon. Please let me know if you have interest in helping.

In summary, the volunteer opportunities are:
  • Extended Day (M-F 3:00-5:00 pm)
  • Lunch (M-F 11:45-12:20 pm)
  • Carline (M-F 3:00-3:30 pm)

Remember you can sign up for a week, a month, certain days of the week, etc. All help is appreciated.

Thank you and God Bless.

Peace,

Linda Umoh

MUSTANG SPORTS
The St Stephen girls volleyball and coed soccer teams have a couple of weeks of practice before games and matches start the week of September 27. The soccer team has its first game on Tuesday, September 28 vs Corpus Christi at St Stephen at 4:00. The volleyball teams have their first match on Wednesday, September 29 vs Christ the King at Christ the King. The varsity match starts at 4:00 and the JV at 5:00. All girls volleyball matches are at Christ the King this season due to COVID policies. The administrators want all of the matches outside and Christ the King is the only school with dual courts and a covered pavilion. All of the schools in the league are traveling there for the matches.

Please see the school website under athletics for the complete volleyball and soccer schedules. Student-athletes participating on the soccer and volleyball teams must have the two Diocesan required sports forms...FHSAA physical and Diocesan consent form...and the $65 sports fee turned in to the office by Friday, September 24 to be eligible to participate in the matches/games. The forms are available on the school website under athletics>forms.

Good luck to our Mustang volleyball and soccer teams this season.

MATH+
A math program called Math+ is being offered (virtually for right now) to all Middle School Students at St. Stephen. There are no prerequisite requirements except for a love and interest in Math. The courses in this program go well beyond the math being learned in the classroom providing students a much broader view of selected Math Topics.

This Fall’s course focuses on Probability, a mathematical concept that has both practical relevance and important mathematical applications. The course will teach probability while exploring many real-world applications from finance to decision-making to poker. A letter about the course is attached.

The six-session course will be taught online on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 pm starting on Monday, October 4th and ending on October 20th.

Families can sign-up at www.RedWoodPrep.com.

Public Library Haal Pass
The Haal Pass allows our students to access public library resources with just their student ID number and Pin. Students will use their student ID number (from FACTS) and their password of 4321 to log into the HCPLC.org site. This allows them to check out physical copies of books as well as digital books, audiobooks, and any other materials available from the public library. Students can also use this account to check out ebooks on Overdrive or Libby, the digital reader programs used by the public library.
