Grief and Loss

Just Breathe

When you lose your soulmate only then do you realize what being alone truly means .. When that love of your life leaves only then do you know what a broken heart feels like.. no one can do anything to fix it.. people grief in different ways and that is fine .. mine is to be alone and let time heal..My friends know I hear them and are grateful for all of their support.. This summer has been very tough for me and I still need that alone time so do not think I am hiding from you........ I am trying to just breathe.

To my Christ Church family thank you for your support and being there for me.. Shirley

It is not our custom to post obituaries, however, Rick was our former Warden and an ally in the community and so, many of you have contacted the office asking for information. Our Christ Church family shares in this time of grief and loss. Crawford N. “Rick” Kirkpatrick III died peacefully on August 27, 2023 with his family at his side. Rick was known for his good humor, and being a kind and compassionate man. He served the community by his decades long service in Swansea and on the Vestry of Christ Church, including serving as Warden. Please respect the family's time of mourning as they, too, try to just breathe. A Celebration Of Life will be held at 11 AM on October 14th at Christ Church, Swansea. There will be no calling hours (wake). In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Amos House, Providence, RI, Christ Church, Swansea, MA, or The Eagles Mere Conservancy, Eagles Mere, PA.

From the Diocese

The Joint Nominating Committee for the Election of the Presiding Bishop asks the church to join it in prayer for the discernment and election process. It has offered the following prayer, which members hope Episcopalians will use in the Prayers of the People during worship, as well as in their personal devotions:

Almighty God, source of all wisdom and understanding: Look graciously on your church, and so guide the hearts and minds of those who will choose our next presiding bishop, that we may receive a faithful pastor who will care for all of your people, equip us for our ministries, and proclaim your word to us and to the world, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Lay Eucharistic Visitor Training will be offered via Zoom on two consecutive weeknights (you must attend both). Tuesday, September 19 and Wednesday, September 20, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Registration required. To be licensed by the bishop as a lay eucharistic visitor, one must complete training, be up to date with Safe Church training and have signed authorization from their congregation’s clergyperson. The application for licensing is online or Contact Martha Gardner with questions or for more information.
