From The Pastor's Desk...
Ever notice how if you did "all" the things you should do daily, there would be no time for work, rest, or play?  For example:  brush your teeth 2 minutes 3 times, exercise an hour, reach out to family, source and cook healthy food, make lists, check off lists, read a book, get fresh air - and the list goes on - and that's just the "daily stuff," not including the recurring tasks of life.
And the above didn't include such spiritual practices as praying, gratitude, and reading the Bible.  Such essentials often get pushed to the side because there is no deadline and no one "right way" to do them.  As a Church family, it's our duty and joy to support you in finding ways to keep God in your heart, mind, and actions every day.
To do that, we invite you to Bible studies, which are offered in person and virtual, daytime and evening, group/family/individual.  Check below for dates and times.  We also offer "Taking Faith Home" that you can get in paper on Sundays, and we will be including in your weekly worship e-blast.  I also recommend the YouVersion Bible App, which offers a "Verse of the Day" that pops up as a notification, and also has a variety of plans that guide you on your schedule through 7-31 days of engagement.  Once you have the App set up, please search my name and add me as a friend!
We need routines as humans so that we can get anything done.  I encourage you to add Bible study to your routines, whether weekly or daily, so that you can do all the other important things with the grace of God in your heart and mind.

Peace,
Pastor Wendolyn

Spotify users: Shared Playlist Opportunity!
Pastor Wen has created a collaborative playlist on the streaming service Spotify.  Search for "Lol-Loved Tracks."  You can listen or add songs, the goal being a shared space to celebrate our favorite music that is uplifting or speaks to the griefs of this world.  If you use a different service (Apple Music, Pandora, etc) consider setting up a public playlist with the same name and letting us all know about it via Facebook or the Sunday bulletin!

Works In Progress:

Our Sanctuary "Pray-Ground":  We are trying out an idea to have a kid-friendly area in worship where little ones can move and play with minimal distraction (and really, that distraction just directs us towards God's love for all!).  We are looking for a small rug, quiet toys (Beanie Babies and Duplo blocks especially), and kids' fidget toys.

Pastor Wen Continues To Collect Small Containers:
1. Baby food containers, spaghetti sauce jars (glass or plastic), etc for a fall eco-project; and 2. Food items we can tape closed to build a little kitchen/food shoppe in the Fellowship Hall, for little ones to play while adults connect.  (Example - the Goldfish box in the picture).

Also:
Wire-bound journals (blank/lined inside).

And:
Items to fill our Welcome Packet cups (magnets, sweets, hand-written welcome notes, anything you can think of!).

WANTED!
BFF Teacher Volunteers
Would you be able to assist with our Bible Faith and Fellowship Youth Ministry program?  We are looking for teachers to join in the journey with our children as they continue to learn about God's promises.  Classes will be broken down into smaller groups, and we will be opening the nursery for our youngest folks!  Lots of exciting things to come this year!  We can use some help with our program to make it the best.  Please email Breanne if you are available to donate your time to teaching.

Confirmation Angels
4 More Angels Needed!

Lord Of Life's Adult Ministry will be supporting our Confirmation Class members as "Confirmation Angels".
Here is what it entails.  You will be given the name, address and brief information about a confirmation student.  You are asked to pray for the student and anonymously send them cards of support and encouragement throughout the school year, about once a month.  You can also mail little presents such as book marks.
The students, of course, will be told that someone is praying for them, but you will remain anonymous.  At the end of the school year, there will be a "reveal party" for the students to meet their Confirmation Angel.  We tried this a couple of years ago, and it was great fun.
If you would like to become a Confirmation Angel, please contact Janell Reich.  A link to her email is below.  Thank you in advance!

Grace Place News
From Director Deborah DeMarco

********
Preschool Begins!

The children had an amazing first week at school. They began their learning adventure with name writing, socialization activities, listening to stories, and the teachers focused on the letter A and the color red.  All of the classes made art projects, participated in Circle Time, and the teachers started their "All About Me" lesson. Next week, the children will learn about the Life Cycle of an Apple, conduct a fizzing apple experiment, participate in a graphing activity, begin Chapel Time with Pastor Wen, and talk about the season of Fall.
As a way to promote proper car seat installation, Deborah, the  Grace Place Director, invited the N.J. State Police to host a Child Safety Seat Program in the parking lot on September 16th.  Led by Trooper Lamberth and other officers, the preschool families took advantage of this great opportunity.  Members of the Lord of Life and community families were also invited to take part.  Many thanks to the N.J. State Police for educating the community and keeping our children safe.

Book Club
Tuesday, September 21st, At 1:00 PM

The Book Club will meet again on Tuesday, September 21st to discuss "Lab Girl", a biography by Hope Jahren.  There are 6 copies available in the Burlington County Library System.
"Lab Girl" is a book about work, love, and the mountains that can be moved when those two things come together.  It is told through Jahren's remarkable stories: about her childhood in rural Minnesota with an uncompromising mother and a father who encouraged hours of play in his classroom's labs;  about how she found a sanctuary in science, and learned to perform lab work done "with both the heart and the hands";  and about the inevitable disappointments, but also the triumphs and exhilarating discoveries, of scientific work.
Hope Jahren is an award-winning scientist who has been pursuing independent research in paleobiology since 1996, when she completed her PhD at University of California Berkeley. She is the recipient of three Fulbright Awards and is one of four scientists, and the only woman, to have been awarded both of the Young Investigator Medals given within the Earth Sciences.

JAM SESSION
Wednesday,
September 22nd
At 7:00 PM
Do you like to play music?  Rick Krause and Paul Rodgers are having a "Jam Session" at church.  This event is open to anyone and everyone who likes to play, sing, and enjoy all types of music (you don't have to be a member of LOL to attend).  You can also touch base with Rick Krause, Paul Rodgers, or Pastor Wendolyn for more information.
Come with a song in mind, and let's see where it takes us!
********
HELP WANTED!
The LOL Music Ministry Team is searching for people to participate with the Praise Team.  There is a need of singers and people who play instruments.  Our goal is to meet once a month (date and time to be determined) to review music for the month and increase participation.  Most importantly, it is not a "lifetime" commitment--you can join us whenever you can.  All ages are needed--no experience necessary--just a desire to proclaim the Good News!  If interested in finding out more, please speak with Rick Krause or Pastor Wendolyn.
********
CHANGE???
Starting in September, the 10:00 AM Prayer, Praise, and Thanksgiving service will be a little different.  There will be some minor changes in the order of the service as well as a focus on more recent contemporary music.  The goal is to have a "key song" that will reinforce the theme of the day and provide those attending with an uplifting experience at worship.  If you have any suggestions for songs, please see Rick Krause or Pastor Wendolyn.

Remember this word when you attend our September church services!  We hope you will be pleasantly surprised.  The key word is:  CARE.

LifeLines Ending Song:
Here is something a little different this time.  Music Ministry Director, Rick Krause, sent the editors a link to musical selections performed by participants at the Lutheran Summer Music Academy.  He suggested we use their rendition of  "Luther's Morning Prayer", which is one of the available pieces.  We found another recording by their vitual choir that was additional to the one provided. The first link below is to all available selections, including Rick;s suggestion.  The second one is to "Luther's Morning Prayer" by the virtual choir.  Enjoy!.
