Sixteenth Sunday after Pentecost

Family Promise

October 1 - 15, 2023

Allen House

On Sunday, October 1, three or four families who are temporarily without housing, will come to spend two weeks at our church.

In collaboration with the Family Promise organization and in partnership with our friends from the First Baptist Church, we will provide the space, the food, the welcome and love for these families in transition.

We encourage you to join us as we serve our neighbors: click the button below for more info about volunteering for this ministry.

To get involved, contact Susan Garsoe sgarsoe@msn.com or 719.338.0156

Nursery Spotlight

Alejandra Reyes, who goes by Ale' (pronounced like the beginning of "alleluia"), has been working with children for more than five years. And it shows! Ale' is a natural with the children in our nursery and Godly Play class.

She has been working in our nursery since last winter, then returned to the Dominican Republic, where her family is from and where her parents live now. We're so excited that Ale' is back in Colorado Springs and is now working in the Godly Play class as our all-important Door Person.

Ale' grew up in Colorado Springs and graduated from Cheyenne Mountain High School. She works as a full-time nanny for two girls and loves to read, paint/draw, and hang out with her friends.

Ale' says, "I spent some time in the Dominican Republic, but am super happy to be back with my church family and all my friends!"

We are so happy you are back, too, and blessed to have you on our Children's Ministry staff.

Food Pantry

Our July Food Drive was a great success! Thanks to all your generous donations, we exceeded our goal of 500 grocery items and collected 545 items to donate to D2 Pantry. Many thanks to all for your offerings.

Thank you for continuing to bring your donations on Sundays.

Our children gather in the Loft upstairs from the narthex (church lobby) or in the courtyard (weather-permitting) for a time of exploration and wonder called “Godly Play.” Parents and guardians are invited to sign in upstairs and children rejoin their families during the Offertory.

If your children haven’t joined us yet, they are most welcome,

and we look forward to meeting and getting to know them.
