This Weekly Update by the Illinois School and Campus Safety Program links to information on the 2024 Great ShakeOut, provides a final opportunity to register for the Oct 3-4 and Oct. 9-10 sessions of Campus Threat Assessment and Management, and promotes the upcoming classes on threat assessment team training, campus threat assessment, wellness, Digital Threat Assessment®, and Advanced Digital Threat Assessment®.

2024 Great Central U.S. ShakeOut Day on October 17th
The 2024 Great Central U.S. ShakeOut is less than a month away! As part of the International ShakeOut Day, people worldwide use this day to practice earthquake drills to help better prepare in the event that an earthquake occurs. The webpage includes information on registering your drill, earthquake safety resources, and more.

Threat Assessment Team Training in Evanston, IL October 17-18th
The Illinois School and Campus Safety Program is pleased to announce a session of the Threat Assessment Team Training class is being held in Evanston, IL October 17-18, 2024.
This comprehensive 2-day K-12 training on multidisciplinary, community-based threat assessment teams provides a history and background of threat assessment, targeted violence, threat assessment research, risk factors, and behavioral indicators of those who are intending to commit targeted violence against others. It also provides training on the concept and advantages of a community-based, multidisciplinary threat assessment system, team dynamics, threat assessment process, and management principles.

Sessions of Digital Threat Assessment® and Advanced Digital Threat Assessment® via Zoom
The Illinois School and Campus Safety Program, in partnership with Safer Schools Together, is pleased to announce 2 upcoming sessions of the Digital Threat Assessment® class and 1 upcoming session of the Advanced Digital Threat Assessment® class being held via Zoom.
The Digital Threat Assessment® training will enable participants to establish a framework to better assess all threats by constructing and considering the digital baseline of a threat maker by locating, documenting, and evaluating social media data through a threat assessment lens. A significant portion of the day will be spent engaging in hands-on exercises on the most prevalent social media platforms and associated search applications. Building upon the Digital Threat Assessment® class by Safer Schools Together, Advanced Digital Threat Assessment® advances participants' understanding of finding and curating relevant digital information consistent with real-life digital threat assessment data gathering scenarios. Significant engagement and hands-on practice will take place as participants are assembled into investigative teams and given a true-to-life mock scenario.
