Good Afternoon St. Stephen Families,
This week I have the pleasure of introducing our new ESE/Resource Teacher, Mrs. Porsha Grier. Porsha comes to us with 20 years of experience in the classroom and providing services to students with special needs. Mrs. Grier began working this week and will spend the next couple of weeks shadowing members of our ESE Department, learning about our students, and receiving assistance from Mrs. Stencel to become oriented to St. Stephen and our students' needs. Please join me in welcoming her to our staff.
Please remember to send your child to school with a mask. I do appreciate your understanding. The decision to mandate masks comes from the Diocese and is based on discussion with health care and emergency management personnel. If you have any questions regarding the decision that I cannot answer, you may email your questions to OCSC@dosp.org.
As a final reminder, the school will be closed on Friday, Sept. 3, and Monday, Sept. 6. I hope you all enjoy your four-day weekend!
Thank you all for your continued support and I continue to pray for all our families.
Peace and Blessings,
Linda Umoh

COVID-19 REMINDERS
These are some Covid-19 Protocol reminders:
- If your child is not feeling well in the morning (upset stomach, sore throat, headache, etc.), please keep them home (even if they do not have a fever), monitor their symptoms, and contact their doctor if the symptoms do not improve.
- If your child comes to school and complains of any of these or other symptoms, parents will be called to pick up their child, contact your child's doctor, and/or get a Covid-19 test. Students will not be able to return to school unless they have a doctor's note or negative test result.
Please know that we do understand this can be challenging, but these are necessary precautions to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in our school. We are required to follow the guidance of the CDC and the Diocese of St. Petersburg. We ask for your understanding and patience.

Scouting is a great way to build friendships and learn skills that last a lifetime in a fun and exciting environment filled with adventure! Our adventures include camping, canoeing, hiking, and community service projects all done while learning to keep ourselves physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.
Cub Scout Pack 610 is open to boys and girls grades K-5 and meets Thursday evenings at 6:30 pm in the Family Life Center. For more information, please contact Raymond Negron at scouts@negronarana.com.
For middle school and high school ages, Boys Troop 610 and Girls Troop 610 offer programs of character development and values-based leadership training, preparing youth for life ahead. Both groups meet on Thursday evenings at 7 pm in the Family Life Center. For more information on the Boys Troop, please contact boy_scouts@ststephencatholic.org.
We invite you to join us at our next meeting and we look forward to welcoming you!

OWN THE AVENUE
Own The Avenue is a year-round fundraiser for the PTCO and gives you a great way to give your child a shout-out for the school community to see! Birthdays, achievements, any positive vibes, and kudos are welcome, and they certainly make your student feel special!!
The sign is located on the corner of our school parking lot and will be viewed and celebrated for the entire week. A PTCO member will be responsible for putting up the sign and after the week is done, the sign will be sent home with your student for yours to keep or to reuse for a future week!
Here's how it works:
If you have an existing sign, the cost is $30 for the week. If we need to order a new sign, the cost is $50 for the week. Please make payments through the school's front office
To sign up, please use the following link and more details will follow. Please note, new signs take up to 2 weeks to process and receive from our vendor. If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Nicole Rodriguez at nicrodriguez0722@gmail.com. Thank you in advance for your support!
IMPORTANT: Please note, this is a yearly fundraiser that is on a first-come, first-served basis (via SignUpGenius). For example, if you purchase a sign this year for a specific week 9-5-21 thru 9-11-21, that same week is not guaranteed to you for future years. It is required that you sign up each school year if you wish to participate.

The Haal Pass allows our students to access public library resources with just their student ID number and Pin. Students will use their student ID number (from FACTS) and their password of 4321 to log into the HCPLC.org site. This allows them to check out physical copies of books as well as digital books, audiobooks, and any other materials available from the public library. Students can also use this account to check out ebooks on Overdrive or Libby, the digital reader programs used by the public library.
