FREE Cargo Tank Inspection Training Class
Registration is OPEN | |
The Texas Propane Gas Association is hosting a free Cargo Tank Inspection Training Class on Monday, October 13, 2025, at the SpringHill Suites in Rockwall, TX, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Everyone who preregisters will receive a training book at no cost.
This class helps current Registered Inspectors keep up with their continuing education. But some members have asked, "What if I’m not yet a Registered Inspector—can this help me become one?"
The short answer: yes, this class can help meet the training requirement. But a few other criteria are set by the U.S. Department of Transportation. Here’s what it takes in simple terms:
- Education – You must have at least a high school diploma or GED.
- Experience – You need at least three years of hands-on experience testing and inspecting cargo tanks(unless you have an engineering degree).
- Training – You must complete DOT-approved training like this class and repeat training every three years to stay current.
- Registration – You must be officially registered with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
In other words, this class checks one of the boxes—but you’ll also need the education, the experience, and to complete the DOT registration process before you can call yourself a Registered Inspector.

| | TPGA Surpasses Kerr County Flood
Relief Goal | | |
The Texas Propane Gas Association (TPGA) is proud to announce that it has exceeded its fundraising goal to support Kerr County flood recovery efforts. Together with members, partners, and industry allies, TPGA will be giving more than $45,000 to Kerr County Flood Relief.
The effort began with a call to action from TPGA’s leadership following the devastating floods in the Hill Country earlier this year. Member companies and individuals stepped up immediately, contributing $15,000 in donations. Recognizing the generosity of its membership, TPGA pledged to match that amount dollar-for-dollar, doubling the impact to $30,000.
The campaign reached new heights thanks to a generous pledge from the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC), which added another $15,000 to the fund. Their partnership and commitment brought the total to more than $45,000—well above the original goal.
The funds will go directly to Kerr County Flood Relief administered by the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country helping recover and rebuild from the historic flooding.
TPGA extends a special thank you to the Propane Education & Research Council for their crucial support, and to every member who gave generously to make a difference. Together, this united effort demonstrates the propane industry’s ongoing commitment to community service and resilience in times of crisis.
| | September is Peak Month for Hurricanes | | Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, but it peaks in September. This year, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicts an above-normal hurricane season. NOAA urges everyone to better understand their hurricane risks and start preparing now. As hurricane season continues, it's essential to prepare your customers, employees, and infrastructure for severe weather threats such as storms, flooding, damaging winds, and tornadoes. | | |
The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC)’s Propane and Weather Safety webpage offers helpful information you can provide to your customers to help them understand propane safety during natural disasters like hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, and wildfires. You can share preparedness and safety tips via your company website and customer communications, such as e-mails, receipts, mailings, and social media channels.
As always, we encourage our members to plan ahead with their suppliers in case of supply disruptions, infrastructure issues, and high-demand scenarios.
