TCGIS Picture Day ID: MI208219Y1

As you may have noticed, there was a typo in last week's Elternbrief. Picture Day is Thursday, OCTOBER 4. We apologize for this mistake.

Interested in helping out? We are looking for one more parent volunteer from 11:30am-2:30pm. Please contact Lauren Kalish at lkalish@tcgis.org if you are interested! Parent volunteers will receive $35 off of a picture package of their choice!
Capstone Fall Exchange Begins Next Week

Next Wednesday, 47 German students and their 5 teachers will arrive in Minnesota and begin their two-week exchange visit with TCGIS! We are excited to welcome the largest group of German students to TCGIS this fall, and look forward to sharing with them our school community and way of life here in MN.

In addition to a busy schedule of sight-seeing around the Twin Cities, all 47 students will integrate into the school day in various ways: some days they will shadow their partner through a normal school day, on other days, they will visit other grades in pairs to do activities with our TCGIS students. Be sure to ask your own student(s) about the Germans who come to visit his/her/their class! This is a wonderful opportunity for all TCGIS students to speak German with native speakers and to learn about life in Germany from a young person's perspective.
Collecting Empty Cereal and Oatmeal Boxes

Frau Lenburg is collecting empty cereal and oatmeal boxes so that students in Kindergarten through third grade can make lanterns in art class. This will be part of the celebration of Martinstag in November. Boxes can be brought to the office or the art room.  Interested in a take-home volunteer opportunity this fall, preparing boxes for the students or cutting for our collaborative Peace Day project? Please contact Frau Lenburg at alenburg@tcgis.org.

TCGIS Cross Country Competes in Race!

The TCGIS Cross-Country Team competed for the very first time this past week in two meets in Lakeville. Each and every TCGIS runner ran a personal best time at one of the two meets, despite the extreme heat last Saturday and the wet conditions on Tuesday. At Saturday's meet, the TCGIS girls finished in 9th place, just 4 points behind 8th place, and the boys finished in 7th place, only 9 points behind 6th place. Congrats to all runners!

If you would like to see the team race, we have two meets next week: Humboldt Invitational and 22nd Annual Tom Watson Mustang Invitational. Come, cheer on our runners!

Please Return TCGIS Volunteer Shirts

If you recently borrowed a green TCGIS Volunteer shirt, please be sure to wash and return it to school at your earliest convenience. Thank you and thank you for volunteering!
