CEO 3
Happy 20th International DOT Day!
| |
|
- Summer has come to a nice warm close and we are ready to tackle a new school year. This is always a perfect time to bring the staff together for some strategic planning! It is always great to have the team in the same location, breaking bread discussing NYSCATE and big future plans (advocating for no-cost online PD, conference events, Aspiring CTO Academy, new CRM, ASCD partnerships etc). How lucky am I to have such amazing colleagues!
- I had the priviledge of presenting at the Technology and Learning Executive CEO Summit last week with colleagues from Google, Instructure and Classlink. The topic was on Data Privacy, but like most events as of late, the discussion led to how AI is going to change the landscape of our field. Interesting as one of the panelists was so excited about AI as a tool to save time for educators, the other was very cautious about the ethical implications. I am constantly asked what the next big thing is. Well, I think we know the answer to that but I think we need to be cautious and aware of the many facets and challenges that surround the topic. One thing I know for sure - we ALL need to engage in as many discussions and exploratory situations as we can im order to properly inform the discussions!
- Thank you to both Michelle Burke and Sal DeAngelo, who emailed me this week with the following pictures. You know what that means? The conference brochures are hitting the schools! Registration is at a record high already. Looking forward to a great event!

NYSCATE President, Michelle Burke from Madrid Waddington, excited to share the brochures with the North Country contingency! | |
Next to the feeling we used to get when the new phonebook showed up each year (if you are even old enough to remember that), the annual NYSCATE conference brochure brings along with it the same excitement and anticipation :)
Dr. Sal DeAngelo, Superintendent, Chatham CSD.

Ideamapper joins Corporate Council for 2023-24!
NYSCATE is pleased to welcome Ideamapper to the Corporate Council this year. Ideamapper is a powerful “mind mapping” tool, which promotes development of critical thinking skills, collaboration, communication and strong writing skills across curriculum areas. “I think of Ideamapper as much more than just a writing tool” said Tom Whitby, co-creator of #Edchat and noted edtech author, blogger, and educator. “After teaching English for over 40 years, I have personally used mind mapping as a teaching strategy to help my students brainstorm, organize and present their thoughts on a wide range of subject areas. Simply said - it works.”
Ideamapper is used extensively in both education and business to brainstorm, organize thoughts, and write well-structured documents. It takes any project or paper from conception to completion. Visit https://www.ideamapper.com/ and explore the features and benefits of Ideamapper.
