On Saturday, September 14th, Supervisor Andersen and many other elected officials and dignitaries honored Amit Elor, a local hero and amazing freestyle wrestler fresh off her gold medal victory at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She is only 20 years, and the youngest United States wrestler to win an Olympic Gold Medal.

30th Anniversary of Teen Esteem+ | |
On September 13th Supervisor Andersen attended an event celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Teen Esteem+, and presented a proclamation from the Board of Supervisors recognizing the organizations' outstanding service to the community.
Teen Esteem+ has been a major force for good in the Tri-Valley area since 1994. The non-profit empowers students, parents, educators, and the community to connect and collaborate over the challenges and risks that youth face. They seek to provide relief, validation, understanding and hope to those they reach each year.
At the close of the 2023/24 school year, Teen Esteem+ impacted and provided hope, encouragement and valuable resources to 278,161 students and 310,101 parents during its 30 years of service.

Are You Interested in Resource Conservation? | |
The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors is seeking individuals to serve on the Board of Directors for the Contra Costa Resource Conservation District (CCRCD). The CCRCD’s mission is to facilitate conservation and stewardship of the natural resources in our county. CCRCD is a state legislated special district governed under Division 9 of the CA Public Resources Code which stipulates that a Director must be a registered voter in California and:
- Reside within Contra Costa County and either own real property in the county or have served for two years or more as a CCRCD Associate director; or
- Be a designated agent of a resident landowner within the county.
Qualified candidates with a demonstrated interest in conservation and stewardship of natural resources are encouraged to apply. The County Board of Supervisors will make appointments to fill three vacancies effective December 1, 2024, for four-year terms expiring on November 30, 2028. Board of Directors meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month in Pleasant Hill.
Application forms can be obtained from the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors by calling (925) 655-2000 or visiting the County webpage at contracosta.ca.gov. Applications should be returned to the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, County Administration Building, 1025 Escobar St., Martinez, CA 94553, no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2024. Applications can also be emailed to ClerkoftheBoard@cob.cccounty.us.
Applicants should plan to be available for public interviews to be held virtually via Zoom on Monday, October 14, 2024.

The Danville Police Department welcomes the community to a free Open House event on Saturday, September 28. This family-friendly event offers a unique opportunity to explore the inner workings of the local police department and engage directly with the officers serving the Danville community. The Open House is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 500 La Gonda Way in Danville.
Attendees will enjoy guided tours of the Police Department, interactive scenarios, drone and K9 unit demonstrations, and the chance to get up close and personal with patrol vehicles and equipment. There will also be opportunities to meet and chat with dedicated officers, providing a perfect time for residents to ask questions and learn more about community policing efforts.

Contra Costa County Announces Innovation Fund Grant Program | |
Contra Costa County is seeking ideas for innovative projects that respond to local public service needs, can improve equitable access to public services, can remove structural barriers that cause inequities and poverty, provide the greatest impact for every dollar spent, and have potential for transformative change! Up to $2 Million in one-time grants will be made available on a competitive basis to nonprofit tax-exempt community-based organizations to fund the planning and implementation of one or more selected projects in the following categories:
1. Safe & Engaged Communities – Improving health, wellness, and public safety outcomes through community outreach/awareness, education, and engagement.
2. Agriculture and Food Systems – Improving environmental health, economic profitability, and social and economic equity.
3. Economic Vitality – Providing education, job training, decent jobs, and viable businesses to reduce the number of people at a poverty level.
4. Clean & Sustainable (Clean and Green) Environment – Safe food and water, proper waste disposal, clean air, pest control; preventing waste.
5. Reliable & Accessible Infrastructure – Modernization, technology, or equity in digital access, cybersecurity, and resilience.
Phase 1 of the Innovation Fund grant process offers Five Thousand ($5,000) to each of up to ten (10) selected projects to fund the development of a comprehensive Phase 2 Project Grant proposal.
Statements of Qualifications and Concept Papers may be submitted no later than 3:00 p.m. on October 7, 2024 at the following online grant portal:

The Annual Report is a comprehensive summary of Contra Costa County's Continuum of Care (Coc) activities and outcomes for calendar year 2023. This report includes data or people and households that access CoC programs for people who are:
- at-risk of homelessness
- currently experiencing homelessness
- previously homeless and now in permanent housing programs.
The 2023 report includes trend data on sub-populations, analyzes issues related to equity, provides personal stories from people with lived experience, and identifies future objectives and goals.

The Contra Costa Council on Homelessness (COH) is seeking candidates to apply for the 8 seats opening at the end of this year. We are looking for people willing to bring their time and talents to the important work we are doing to end homelessness in Contra Costa County.
What is the Council on Homelessness?
The Council on Homelessness (CoH) works to improve the local response to homelessness in Contra Costa County. Council members support and govern the Contra Costa Continuum of Care (CoC). The Council on Homelessness encourages all members of the community to apply for a seat. The Council aims to include members with different backgrounds, such as different abilities, ages, sexual and gender identities, immigration statuses, and racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds, as well as representing different regions within the County. Individuals who have experienced homelessness and/or the justice system are encouraged to apply.

This 16-acre park was bequeathed to the City of San Ramon in 1997 by Ruth Boone in honor of her husband, Travis Boone. The site includes the Glass House, built in 1877, the Boone House, built in 1900, and 14 outbuildings/barns. The Contra Costa County Internal Operations Committee of the Board of Supervisors is now accepting applications from individuals to fill two (2) At-Large member seats and one (1) At-Large Alternate member seat on the Contra Costa County Fish and Wildlife Committee. Applications are due by November 4, 2024 at 5:00 P.M.
The Fish and Wildlife Committee has ten members: five District representatives nominated by individual members of the Board of Supervisors, four At-Large positions and one At-Large Alternate position nominated by the Internal Operations Committee. The Internal Operations Committee considers applications from all interested individuals and conducts interviews even when an existing At-Large member seeks reappointment.
Fish and Wildlife Committee meetings are held six times a year on the third Wednesday of the month from 3 to 5 p.m. For more information regarding the Fish and Wildlife Committee, please click here to visit the Committee’s website.

Volunteers Sought for Community Advisory Board (CAB) on Public Safety Realignment -
The Community Advisory Board (CAB) on Public Safety Realignment was established by the Community Corrections Partnership (CCP) Executive Committee in December 2012 to provide input on community needs; assess implementation of the realignment plan; review data on realignment outcomes; advise the CCP on community engagement strategies; offer recommendations for ongoing realignment planning; advise County agencies regarding programs for implementation in the County; and encourage outcomes that are consistent with the County’s Reentry Strategic Plan.
