Presidents Letter

Dear ASID New Mexico Member,

As September comes and goes, so does my term as President of the New Mexico Chapter of ASID. I sincerely hope that I have been able to make a positive impact on the NM Chapter. I want to thank all of you for the opportunity to serve you, and for your patience as I grew into my position. This is definitely one experience I will never forget.

My journey was not alone, and I can honestly say that with the help of the dynamic individuals that make up the board, the NM chapter was saved from pending dissolution from ASID Headquarters (National). Each and every one on the 2015-16 Board has become a friend who I will cherish for many years to come.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank each of them for their hard work and dedication.
As the Chapter moves forward, I have full confidence in the incoming board members, and I will continue to support them in their endeavor to grow, and maintain strength as a Chapter. The newest incoming members include, Larry Wilson of Santa Fe and Florida, Anna Matejczuk of Albuquerque, and our Student Rep., Sheryl Johnson.
Your incoming President, Buffy Kline, will continue to keep the ball rolling in an effort to stay in tune with the interests of ASID National, while keeping the best interest of every member front and center.  President Elect, Judy Romero, is just as dedicated, and has a great deal of business savvy along with leadership skills, to offer our Chapter too.
The last eleven months have truly flown by. We have had so many successful events that I cannot begin to name them all. Our partnership with NKBA (National Kitchen & Bath Association) proved to be successful and beneficial for not only our Chapter, but NKBA’s Chapter as well.  Without this union, New MexiCon would not have been the giant success that it was.

It is also important to mention the important relationships we have built with our Industry Partners.  Their substantial contributions through generous donations and participation have both solidified and validated the immeasurable value of ASID membership.  Moreover, ASID NM Chapter will continue to build a bridge to connect with other valuable design organizations like, AIA, IIDA and HBA, to add even more value to our membership.

Please visit our website, www.nmasid.org and mark your calendars for all of the exciting CEU’s and events we have planned. Elizabeth Liming, our Professional Development Director, and the rest of the board, have been working very hard to ensure that we plan events of most interest to everyone. Our lineup of events include, an amazing holiday party in December, some fantastic CEU’s, a Membership Drive, a Meet and Greet event, and of course, New MexiCon 2017 in June.
I encourage every member to volunteer for a position on the NM board or a sub-committee. I cannot tell you in words how much this has changed my life. It has opened many new doors, and I have gained so many great memories and friendships.
Although I am leaving office, I will continue to stay active and involved, and advocate for this Chapter every opportunity I get. My business is growing and leading me in many great directions, and it will be an exciting time for me to sit back and enjoy all the benefits this membership has to offer.
Thank you for your support this year.  Without you, the members, our Chapter would not exist. It has been my pleasure to serve you!

With many thanks,
Portia Bundy
