Congratulations to this year's award winners
We're excited to be taking the annual WSAE Awards Program to the "Streets of Old Milwaukee" at the Milwaukee Public Museum. Enjoy hor d'oeuvres and cocktails as we celebrate your peers and the best of association management. Then, take a self-guided tour of the newly renovated exhibit using the museum's mobile app.
Industry Partner Exhibits will feature a "game show" theme
From Wheel of Fortune to Let's Make a Deal, WSAE's industry partners will feature interactive game show fun at their exhibits during the 2016 Innovation Summit.
Thank you to this year's Innovation Summit sponsors:

Direct fundraising appeals
We are going to deploy an end of the year direct mail fundraising appeal for our charity and have a sponsor willing to develop and print the piece. Unfortunately, we won't be able to do much testing for this mailing nor have we deployed many direct mail appeals in the past. Does anyone have feedback as to if they've had more success with a full color, three panel brochure vs. a more traditional fundraising letter within an envelope?

International questions
AACD's International Committee met earlier this week. I am hoping the WSAE community can provide insight on two questions:
  1. We have requests to provide international education regularly. Do you have a policy regarding where your association will or will not send educators based on the U.S. State Department's travel alerts, or some other guidelines?
  2. Do you have a model you can share for collaborative meetings with associations based in other countries?

Brand your association like Dr. Pavlov
by Michael DiFrisco

We all remember learning about the famous psychological experiments in conditioned reflex performed by Ivan Petrovich Pavlov around the turn of the previous century. In simple Pavlov's dogterms, Pavlov would ring a bell prior to feeding his dogs (his test subjects). The dogs came to associate the ringing of the bell with the presentation of the food, and Pavlov saw that they were quickly conditioned to respond to the bell ringing and anticipating their food.

2017 Winter Institute -
Pay It Forward incentive scholarships available

The Wisconsin Society of Association Executives is proud to partner with Institute for Organization Management, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation's professional development program for non-profit executives, and offer two $500 partial tuition scholarships to one of Institute's 2017 sites. The two scholarships, available to our members, will be awarded to students attending Institute for the first time to assist with enrollment fees and cannot be combined with any other Institute scholarships.

For more information about Institute's curriculum, sites, and dates, visit the Institute web site and Prospective Student Toolkit to help you gain insight into the program.

Upon completion of the Institute program, graduates receive the IOM recognition which allows them to use the letters "IOM" in public mention and professional correspondence.
