Don't Forget - Abstract Submissions Due by October 15th!

Dear VOS members,

Let's take a moment to send some positive vibes to our friends in Texas, Florida, the Caribbean, and other neighboring regions affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Most of us cannot even imagine the devastation that has occurred in these regions and what it would be like to have your home or your clinic completely destroyed. Our members are what make up the VOS community and as a community we are there for our members so we are open to thoughts or ideas to help those impacted by these devastating hurricanes. Please email your thoughts to [email protected].

October 15th is National Hand-washing Day, National Mushroom Day, National "I Love Lucy" Day and National Chicken Cacciatore Day, to name a few. But most importantly, October 15th is the day that abstract submissions (which are now open) are due. So wash your hands, eat some mushrooms and chicken cacciatore and press "send" on the online abstract submission form.

Dr. Katja Lin Lastly, I would like to give a shout out to all the VOS members presenting at ACVS this year (see below) in Indianapolis. The VOS board will be there as well, making arrangements for all the fun and learning that will be happening at Snowmass Village in March next year.

Have a beautiful September!

Communications Chair

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION CLOSES OCTOBER 15!
45th Annual Veterinary Orthopedic Society Conference
March 10-17, 2018 at Snowmass Village, Colorado

by Reunan Guillou and José M. Garcia-Lopez
VOS Scientific Program Chair and Assistant Scientific Program Chair

Abstract submission for the VOS 2018 Conference is now open and will close Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. HAST (Hawaii-Aleutian Time Zone) for both podium presentations and posters.

To learn more and submit an abstract, visit our Abstract Submission website for the VOS 2018 Conference.

We invite practitioners, academicians, and researchers interested in large animal, small animal, and exotic species, to submit abstracts of novel studies in practical and scientific topics related to veterinary orthopedics and traumatology. Preference will be given to abstracts that have clinical relevance. Papers addressing results of controlled retrospective and prospective clinical studies are strongly encouraged. Clinician investigators should also consider submitting innovative surgical techniques, or case reports describing unusual or difficult cases as these will be reviewed separate from the scientific abstracts. Presentations will be limited to 10 minutes and followed by 5 minutes of discussion. Posters must fit within the 4' (height) x 4' (width) area provided.

Submission categories will be:
  • Clinical/Scientific Studies
  • Case reports: a maximum of three novel or interesting cases
The Mark S. Bloomberg Memorial Resident Research Award was established to recognize outstanding resident abstract submissions to the scientific program. At least one recipient per year will be awarded up to $1,500.00 towards expenses to attend and present their abstract at our annual meeting. Only individuals currently in a residency training program or within 2 years of completion of a formal residency program are eligible. The abstract submission may only be of studies conducted during the residency program. All abstracts being submitted for consideration of this award must indicate so on online submission form.
