One in every eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. When it comes to breast cancer, the good news is that if it’s caught early, localized breast cancer is 98 percent curable. Even still, only 52 percent of eligible women in Gordon County receive an annual mammogram.

Gordon Hospital will sponsor the Chamber of Commerce’s Booster Breakfast on Friday, October 6 at 7:30 a.m. in the North Lobby at Gordon Hospital. Gordon Hospital Director of Oncology Services Lanell Jacobs, along with several oncology and women's care physicians, will discuss the purpose of the women’s center and explain the impact it will have on our community.

The expansion, which is set to start in early 2018, will streamline care and provide our community with a one-stop patient-focused center for the rapid diagnosis and comprehensive treatment of breast diseases. Education for well-women, patients, patient families, and the community will be also available.

The center will be fully integrated into Gordon Hospital Cancer Care and will enhance the diagnostic capabilities of the current program. Patients will be provided with results in a timely manner by a team of highly-qualified physicians and supportive staff, including nurse navigators. The women’s center will be a place that promotes women’s health in our community. It will provide increased access to care, ease the breast cancer journey, and provide education on women's health.
