New Rates Beginning September 15th!
|
After much deliberation, we will be implementing a modest increase to the clinic rates, which will go into effect September 15, 2017.
Any valid treatment packages purchased before that date can be used until they expire, but please note that packages are only valid for
6 months from the purchase date
.
Our top priorities are to provide high quality, professional, compassionate acupuncture to our community at affordable prices, while also maintaining a sustainable business that supports our work - not always an easy balance to find in these times!
In addition, we are still hoping to move the clinic into a larger, accessible space in the area, but we will likely be delayed until 2018 to do so. Feel free to send along any info if you happen to come across a space that you think would be suitable. And we will keep you posted!
As always, we are beyond grateful for your continued support and trust in our care and attention to your health,
Rachel, Katie & Anne Louise
NEW CLINIC RATES:
Initial Visit - $50
Follow Up Visit - $35
6 Treatment Package - $180 ($30/treatment, 15% off)

Did you lose a pair of eyeglasses?
We found a pair of eyeglasses left in the clinic room back in July, and thought we'd have inquiries but we haven't yet, so please be in touch if you've been looking for a pair of glasses. We'd be glad to return them to their owner!

The Season of Late Summer in Chinese Medicine - Earth Element
|
|
Rachel Condon, Lic. Ac.
We are all aware of the changes in the season at this time of year, as the light starts to change, leaves on the trees will begin to change color soon, the days begin to get a little shorter... in Chinese Medicine, we are in the phase where the Earth Element is the most active, and this element is the only one associated with more than one time period: that of late summer, which begins in late August and goes until the Fall Equinox on September 22nd, AND the transitional time between each of the other seasons, the few weeks when fall changes to winter, winter to spring, and spring into summer.
Here are some other associations that are found to correlate with the season of late summer and the element of Earth:
Sound: Singing
Taste: Sweet
Emotion: Worry or pensiveness
Direction: Center
Organ: Spleen and Stomach
Body Part: Mouth, and Muscles
This is an important transitional time of the year, as the bright, expansive, yang, fiery energy of summer wanes, and we draw closer to the cooling, inward, yin, introspective energies of fall and winter. Earth energy is a stabilizing force during times of transition, and tuning in to this energy can help us stay grounded and centered, as our bodies naturally shift into the rhythms of the coming season.
Foods that help to balance the Element of Earth, are, not surprisingly, those that we are beginning to find in abundance at our local farmer's markets, farm stands and gardens. These are also foods that are naturally sweet:
peaches and apples, squash and pumpkin, sweet potatoes, carrots and beets, and other root vegetables... We will also be more drawn to soups and stews at this time, which can help stimulate the digestive fire.
It is a wonderful time of year to take some walks outside, take time to eat food mindfully and slowly, and enjoy the abundance of the harvest in community with friends and loved ones!

Raising Money for the Food Bank of Western Mass
|
Anne Louise Smallen, Lic. Ac.
On September 24, I will be bicycling 25 miles with Women Outdoors. Our organization wants to raise much more than its goal of $875 for The Western Mass Food Bank. Western MA has over 200,000 people (many of them families with young children) who go hungry at some point in a year and need help.
Cut and paste this link if you care to donate ANY amount. The site is secure and we have been supporting this cause for many years.
I am very grateful for your generosity and kindness. Donating any amount is welcome. First Giving is simple, fast and secure. Thank you for your support.

Easy, delicious, a little sweet and a little spicy!
7 tomatillos, skins off
2-3 cloves of garlic, peeled
1 jalapeno (seeded, for less hot)
1/2 small red onion
a squirt of honey
handful of cilantro
juice of 1/4-1/2 lime
Lay out tomatillos and jalapeno on a cookie sheet lined with aluminum foil, and roast in the oven under the broiler, until black-ish, flip to roast the other side. Keep an eye on it so they don't burn!
Saute onions and garlic in extra virgin olive oil.
Blend everything together. Yum!
