PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE FROM TONY PARKER

WSCA President

September 2017

Greetings Culinarians and Associates,

I can't believe that summer is over and fall is here. Christmas décor is already up in some stores. Time goes by very quickly this time of year, and you need to make sure that you take the opportunity to spend time with family. It is not easy at times to find a little space to spend with your children or spouse, but spending the time with family keeps us all grounded in these crazy times.

Holiday Dinner, Silent Auction

We have a lot of things coming up and a new president to be elected in November. Please make sure to come out to the Clearwater Casino on Monday, November 13th for an awesome holiday dinner, great games, and to take part in our silent auction and help elect the open positions in your chapter. Please note the date change to MONDAY, November 13th.   Visit the Meetings Page  for more info...

Our next board meeting will be at the Art Institute in Seattle. It will be October 9th. Normal start time of 4-6 pm.

Upcoming Elections

It is that time of the year to look at our elections coming up in November and think about running yourself or nominating a fellow WSCA member for a board or cabinet position. This year we are looking for 3 board positions that are up for re-election and the office of the president and secretary. I cannot be elected again because I have finished two terms as your president. We will be looking for nominations at our dinner meeting for these positions. The election will be held at our November Holiday dinner and silent auction. It will be held at the Clearwater Casino on Monday, November 13th. That is also our silent auction for the apprenticeship so please see if you can help by donating something to the auction to benefit the apprenticeship program. The Clearwater Casino also has a special hotel rate for us if you mention that you are with the WSCA. It is an excellent hotel to stay at if you have the time.

Re-accreditation

Our Chapters re-accreditation is this October. A team will be visiting us to look at our program and to speak with some of the apprentice houses while here. I will reach out to some of our membership for any support needed during this time in October. They will be here at RTC from the 17th to the 20th. They will do the site visit for RTC's accreditation the first two days and finish with the apprenticeship on the last two days.

Culinary Salon Competition

We will be having a culinary salon this upcoming year. It looks like it will be held in May at the Art Institute in Seattle. It will be a one day competition this year and more information will come out soon from our new competition chair and the co-chair.

Thank You

I would like to thank John Clark for the great time and dinner we all enjoyed at the Woodland Park Zoo this month. The open bar was a great surprise from Chef Clarks Company and was appreciated. Everyone wants the recipe for the cornbread pudding or stuffing or whatever it was called. It was the best!! Thanks for your support Chef, Very nice!
