Welcome to the 2018-2019 academic year at the University of California, Irvine. I speak for all of us on the faculty and staff when I say how pleased I am that you and your student are members of the Anteater family.

UCI recognized as top green university in U.S.

With a third No. 1 spot in 
Sierra magazine's "Cool Schools" ranking and top distinctions in the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education's prestigious STARS program, the University of California, Irvine has earned its place as the sustainability leader among U.S. universities.

Today's "Cool Schools" triumph makes UCI the only campus to score in the top 10 for nine consecutive years, placing first in 2014 and 2015 and tying for No. 1 this year with Vermont's Green Mountain College on the strength of its curriculum, research, campus operations and public engagement.

UCI is Money's No.3 Best College

Acknowledging the University of California, Irvine's stellar blend of accessible, high-quality education and alumni success, Money magazine has ranked it No. 3 on its 2018 list of the best colleges in the U.S.
According to Money, the included schools "deliver a superior education at an affordable price, enabling graduates to avoid heavy debt and succeed in the workplace." Only Princeton University and UC San Diego topped UCI this year. In 2017, the campus placed seventh in the Money rankings.

Almost half of students offered fall admission are first generation
UCI has offered admission to more than 36,000 freshmen and transfer students for the fall 2018 quarter while advancing the academic excellence, extracurricular engagement and diversity of the admissions pool.  
Nearly 45 percent of California residents offered admission are first-generation students, emblematic of UCI's strong commitment to being an engine of social mobility for qualified individuals from nontraditional and disadvantaged circumstances.
