The Primary is behind us, and our sights are set on the General Election.

This month, my Gainesville Sun column focused on our shared appreciation for everyone who works Election Day as a poll worker.

Poll Worker Training for 2018 General Election

If you are an election worker and you haven't already heard from us, you should be hearing from our office soon regarding your training for the 2018 General Election.

Remember, you must train before each election.

Spanish Sample Ballots

For the 2018 General Election, we will be creating Spanish sample ballots that non-English-speaking voters will be able to use to better understand the official ballot, which will be printed only in English.

To have a Spanish sample ballot emailed to you, email TJ Pyche at . They will be emailed to you when they are available.
Vote Alachua Team Spotlight
Alexis Hunter

Alexis Hunter is the Information Specialist for the Alachua County Supervisor of Elections.

Alexis is a graduate of Santa Fe college. Before coming to the Vote Alachua Team, she worked for Gainesville Regional Utilities.

In her role, she specializes in public records, GIS mapping, election night results transmitting, and training, as well as a number of other items.

Outside of work, she enjoys hunting, fishing and being with her family.

She lives in Hawthorne with her daughter, Addison, and fiance, Trestan.

The Canvassing Board meets during every election.

“We were quite impressed with the process that protects the privacy of each mail-in ballot and the care taken to ensure each ballot is carefully counted," said one community member who assisted the Canvassing Board.
Mark Your Calendars: At 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27, in the Pugh Hall Ocora, three of Florida’s Election Supervisors — Paul Lux (Okaloosa), Wesley Wilcox (Marion) and Mark Earley (Leon) — will provide insight into the Florida processes and procedures designed to keep voters’ ballots safe and secret. Susan MacManus, University of South Florida distinguished professor emeritus, will moderate the discussion.
The Vote Alachua operations team is always working hard to make sure that Alachua County is election ready.

TJ met with Jon Rehm, Ed.D., last month to talk about combined efforts related to civic education and registering students to vote. 

Dr. Rehm is the Social Studies Curriculum Specialist for Alachua County Public Schools.
Amendment 8, proposed by the Florida Constitution Revision Commission, has been stricken from the 2018 General Election.
The voter registration deadline for the 2018 General Election is Oct. 9. Registered voters are encouraged to verify and update voter registrations. This can be done at or by calling 352-374-5252.
