Discover Revolutionary New Jersey!

CROSSROADS GAZETTE
Your resource for all things Revolutionary New Jersey!
September 2019

New Jersey is a Revolutionary heritage classroom!

Scores of historical sites, with activities, hands-on experiences, tours and more make New Jersey an amazing place for young people to discover life during America's fight for independence. Crossroads of the American Revolution and our Heritage Partners offer a wealth of experiences and resources to help parents, teachers and homeschoolers bring the state's complex heritage to life for their young ones.

Pick an event or a destination! Visit our events page and find a local (or distant) Revolutionary era site for your chance to celebrate the harvest, chat with reenactors, and maybe learn about a bygone trade or craft. We're always adding new events, so be sure to check our calendar often throughout the season.

Get to know our Revolutionary Neighbors. We've highlighted the stories of more than 60 men, women and children who lived in New Jersey during the Revolution, and we'll be adding more to our Revolutionary Neighbors webpage this fall. Find out firsthand about the choices our 18th century forebears had to make when war came to their communities.

Check out our field trip and homeschooling options. Many of our Heritage Partners offer special programs for visiting school groups and homeschooling parents. Visit our website to learn more.

We'd love to hear about your Revolutionary New Jersey adventures with your kids. Share your photos, experiences and your kids' reactions with us at info@revolutionarynj.org. Happy travels!

Trenton Thunder, Crossroads bring Revolution back to shores of the Delaware

The sound of 18th century cannon fire returned to the shores of the Delaware on August 6 as Crossroads and the Trenton Thunder hosted American Revolution Night at Arm & Hammer Ballpark. Before and during the evening game against the Bowie Baysox, baseball fans experienced the excitement of fifes, drums and drills, along with Colonial food demonstrations, an 18th century medical display and more.

Once inside the ballpark, visitors could chat with General George Washington and Ben Franklin, as well as representatives from several Crossroads Heritage Partner organizations. A booming cannon from the Washington Crossing Cannon Crew marked the start of the game along with Gen. Washington's first pitch from the mound.
