A Message from the Director

Welcome Fall!   
First of all , we would like to thank Ag-Tronic Control Systems Inc. for their generous donation of a 3D printer to our makerspace. This addition will enable us to increase our 3D printing capacity to serve our members and students who use our makerspace
On September 6 th FedDev  Ontario announced a $5 million funding to support our local automobility innovation cluster. The project led by the Windsor  Essex Economic Development Corporation will support  a number of  initiatives at the University, including  EPICentre , Cross Border Institute and faculty of Engineering.  EPICentre  will be leading the promotion of innovation and entrepreneurial network. Stay tuned for details in the upcoming weeks.  

We are excited to finally select four social enterprises out of the seven who pitched at the 2 nd  Libro EPIC Social Enterprise Pitch Competition on September 19 th  to join the Libro EPIC Social Enterprise Program. For the next four months, each social enterprise will receive a stipend of up to $8,000 to work on their social enterprise at  EPICentre .    

Finally, we would like to welcome  the first Canadian chapter of Women in Cybersecurity to t he  EPICentre's  community.  EPICentre  will provide the  homebase  to students in  WiCys  to support their initiatives in encouraging more women in cybersecurity space, one step towards building a cyber tech community in Windsor.

EPICentre and  Libro Credit Union  partnered together to develop a Social Impact Initiative which aims to cultivate a social enterprise ecosystem in our region that supports entrepreneurs looking to run a for-profit business that directly addresses a social, cultural or environmental issue.

Shibley Righton Community Impact Award

Congratulations to Kindness Café, a social enterprise by UWindsor Masters of Medical Biotechnology graduate, Ola Ahmed, as the recipient of the 2019 Shibley Righton Community Impact Award. Kindness Café The Shibley Righton Community Impact Award was established in 2016 to support a student entrepreneur where his/her business has a potential for positive community impact in the WindsorEssex region.

Proteus Innovation Competition Launch

The University of Windsor will be participating in the Proteus Innovation Competition, a three part competition that will challenge individuals to create a viable commercialization strategy for 1 of 3 promising technologies, in hopes of winning a cash prize of up to $5,000! The Launch party for the competition will be hosted in the EPICentre workshop room and also livestreamed at Western University in London, and McMaster University in Hamilton on November 20th, from 3-5pm.
