Corporate, Foundation & Volunteer Grants

Grants are a significant source of funding for GVCO, but I feel we have only touched the tip of the iceberg when it comes to our community organization and its programming. GVCO has been involved with this type of support for many years, however in the past two, as we inch closer to the new community center becoming a reality, we have amplified the efforts surrounding this resource. In the past 18 months we have researched hundreds of grants and applied for many of them
Most have stringent guidelines, specific funding objectives and laborious application processes, however our greatest success has come from community members who have researched their employer’s philanthropic initiatives and put us in touch with the proper resource. This allowed us to leverage the connection between the employee, the employer and GVCO for a much more successful outcome.

If everyone would please take the time to review their employer’s philanthropic giving policies to try and identify how it may be beneficial to our community and GVCO it would be appreciated.

The Trochimowicz Family

"I love the local aspect of GVCO. I see so many of the girls and their parents in and about the area. It really fosters a sense of community, and in a day and age of increasing isolation, it is just what is needed." - John

The Trochimowicz Family is excited about the future of GVCO! John grew up in Newark, and his wife, Becky, is from Plymouth Meeting, but now the family calls Great Valley home. John is a physical therapist that sees geriatric clientele in their homes, and Becky is a physician at Main Line Health. They have two children, Phoebe (12) and Zoe (9).

The family first became involved with GVCO when Phoebe started to play basketball at GVBL, and now basketball has become a family affair! "My personal connection to GVCO is through basketball. I started as an assistant coach with Phoebe before becoming a head coach and followed that up by coaching Zoe with my wife. Becky and I have coached Zoe's basketball team for two consecutive winters. I give all the credit to her. I didn't win much with Phoebe. With Zoe, we don't lose much. It isn't me! She can connect with the girls in a way I obviously can't and in a league with predominately all male coaches, the girls like having a female coach."

"We chose to help GVCO because we see how involved they are in the community and with the area growing and growing, a new center seemed like the next logical step. Seeing the drawings of the new building, the sheer size of the building and the scope of activities it will encompass are what excite me. It looks really, really nice."
