"The yogic key will not lose its efficiency when I am no longer present in the body to guide you. This technique cannot be bound, filed, and forgotten, in the manner of theoretical inspirations. Continue ceaselessly on your path to liberation through  Kriya , whose power lies in practice."

Lahiri Mahasaya
Autobiography of a Yogi , p.46
Greetings!

Many of you have returned from Convocation recharged with the Spirit of God and the blessings that such an event can bring. If you would like to share your experiences during Convocation, or would like to have fellowship and hear others talk about their experiences, please join us for the Post-Convocation social on September 8th, detailed below. We are curious to hear from those who were able to live stream the event. This month we have two opportunities to show our devotion and appreciation to our Param Param Guru Lahiri Mahasaya. Lahiri Mahasaya was a Yogavatar, or Incarnation of Yoga. The great Master
elevated the spiritual level of society in his power to raise his close disciples to Christlike stature. It is through his blessings, and training of our line of Gurus, that we now have the ability to practice Kriya yoga in the West.

In this newsletter you will find many other opportunities at the DC Center of SRF to deepen your relationship with God and Gurus.

In Master’s Service,

Wayne Lavallee
Coordinator
Kirtan Opportunity

The kirtan team is interested in finding new members interested in playing in the DC Center’s kirtan group. If you have an interest in playing a traditional kirtan instrument, please contact Anvardh Nanduri at anvardh@gmail.com.
Team Structure

The Managing Council of the DC Center would like to remind everyone that our Center is team driven, which means the teams run the operations of the DC Center. Each team has a team chair and/or co-chair that manage the team, and a liaison or devotee on the Council that is the communication channel for the team to the Managing Council. When teams have issues, they should contact their team chair; if the team chair needs assistance, they should contact the team liaison, etc. If the Managing Council has an issue we cannot resolve, we contact SRF Center Department. There is a list of each team, team chairs, and liaisons on the bulletin board in the upstairs foyer. Also note that if someone has a suggestion and/or complaint that they would like to share anonymously, we have a suggestion box in the social room that you can use. The Managing Council reviews these each month.

All are invited to attend our annual Post-Convocation potluck social on September 8th, immediately following the Reading Service. Please bring a vegetarian entree ( pre-warmed to at least room temperature to facilitate more efficient food service ), fruit juice, or dessert, if you plan to attend.

Mahasamadhi Service: September 26, 7:30-9:00pm
Birthday Service: September 30, 7:30-9:00pm

We will have two special commemorative ceremonies this month honoring Lahiri Mahasaya. On September 26th we will mark the anniversary of the great master's mahasamadhi, and on September 30th we will celebrate his birthday. Please bring a flower and a donation in an envelope as symbols of your loyalty and devotion to each of the ceremonies. Extra flowers and envelopes will be available on a donation basis in the lobby.

These services are primarily intended for those who are SRF students, or other devotees who regularly attend the SRF meetings. However, all are welcome who are well enough acquainted with SRF teachings to appreciate the significance of the Guru‑disciple relationship, and to participate in the service with sincerity and reverence.
