September 2019 Prayers
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. James 1:2-3
Week 1: September 1-8
Prayers of thanks for realization of the role of faith communities in ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Pray for a fruitful exchange September 5 at the Berkley Center at Georgetown University: Two Possible Futures: Faith Action to End AIDS.  Thanks for CCIH members involved: David Barstow of Empact Africa, Gloria Ekpo of World Vision, Katherine Marshall of World Faiths Development Dialogue and Jonathan Quick.

Pray for the people of India in the wake of devastating floods in August. Pray for more than 8 million people affected by the flood and landslide, with more than 1100 deaths. Pray for comfort and healing for all affected. 
Week 2: September 9-16
September 10 is World Suicide Prevention Day. Prayers of thanks for Mental Health programs. Praise for the Christian Health Association of Ghana and its innovative work to make mental health services accessible. See their story

CCIH member Isaiah 58 Care Foundation will be recognized by Beyond Sport on September 12 in New York, USA for its contribution to the UN Global Goals through its “Kick Out Malaria” campaign, which uses football to raise awareness and provide treated mosquito nets to communities in Nigeria. Prayers of thanks for their work and pray for travel mercies to the U.S.
Week 3: September 17-24
Pray for ROBS (Réseau des Ongs Béninoises de Santé) (Network of Benin Health Organizations). Pray for their work to strengthen collaboration between health NGOs, and between NGOs and the state, technical and financial partners and communities, and to advocate for policy change in the health sector. Pray for Reverend César Ahouantchede as he takes the position of head of the network.

Prayers of thanks for the work of the Alliance Development Trust in Sri Lanka to raise awareness about Leprosy, educate communities and reduce stigma. The Alliance developed sermons about Leprosy for its Leprosy Awareness Sunday which relate Bible verses and themes to care and acceptance of people with Leprosy. Week 4: September 25-30
Pray for the National Symposium on Child Abuse on September 25 in Yaounde hosted by the Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Services. Praise for the opportunity for partners to find ways to address and end abuse.

Pray for the Kunri Christian Hospital in Pakistan and its efforts to serve the poorest and most-marginalized patients in the area it serves, especially to provide ophthalmology care, x-rays and improvements and upgrades to its laboratory.
