I start each August thinking about the lazy days of summer, then, about a week in, I remember that August is REALLY BUSY! Lots of yarn is arriving, Fall projects are in the planning, there are many swatches to knit, and it's time to figure out the September classes! No lazy days, here!
So, here are a few things that I wanted to mention:
  • Fall/Winter hours at the shop begin after Labor Day (open until 5 on Saturdays)
  • By now, you are all aware of the discontinued use of plastic bags! So don't forget to bring your reusable bags for purchases. I still have some of my bags, but I now need to charge a 10 cent bag tax to the State of Connecticut for each bag. I did order some sturdy, reusable bags that will work well both for shopping and as project bags. ($5/marjis yarncrafts bag)
  • If you want to check my shop hours to see if there is a holiday closing, or if it's my summer vacation week, there are a few places where you can check. First, I try to put that information on my website home page www.marjisyarncrafts.com. Second, I have that information on my telephone answering machine (860-653-9700). Also, I sometimes manage to get a reminder out on facebook & instagram. PLEASE! Don't rely on Google to get it right!!! Going directly to the website is information that I put there, but Google won't have any "special" closings or changes in hours in a timely manner. (And, I feel terrible when someone makes a trip only to find the shop closed!)
  • I am still collecting and passing along donation yarn to many knitters and crocheters. I will take any kind of yarn - there is always someone who can use it.
  • Fiber Festival of New England will be November 2 & 3, 2019! Mark your calendars and come visit my booth!
