Back to School (ish)?
sleepy_beagle_glasses.jpg
Back to School in 2020 is different for every district and certainly for every household. Each company we work with has faced new staffing challenges as families navigate different schedules and demands.

What isn't different is the goal to keep our kids healthy and safe as they start a new school year.

A very important part of that healthy goal this year is mental health. Our kids are facing unprecedented challenges as are teachers, administrators, parents and guardians. It is important that we pay close attention to the emotional well being of everyone involved.

If you have questions about helping your employees access mental health care, call us.

Why Update CFI Regularly?
digital_envelope_hand.jpg
For the sake of compliance, we require all employers to send us a list of new hires and terminations as they happen.

The continued accuracy of your company census is important, as it allows for timely enrollments and terminations and helps you avoid complex payroll changes and billing issues.

Along with sending you the emailed or faxed monthly update request, we have created a simple form that you can fill out and send to us as changes happen, rather than waiting for us to request them.

To view and save the form please

*Be sure to save the link as a favorite so that you can update us any time you have changes.

No time for the form? You can also email Belinda with your changes. Be sure to include hire date and salary information, or termination date.

Renewal Strategies
business-meeting-convo.jpg
Many of our clients have January renewals. If you do, you'll be hearing from us soon.

We don't just renew and move on - we analyze and shop each renewal to make sure you have a plan that fits all of your needs.

We start early - as soon as your renewal comes in, we review it and send it your way.  Next we verify your company census and discuss your options if you need a change.

Some of those ideas can include:
  • changing plan design
  • shopping new carriers
  • looking at underwritten or self-funded options
  • implementing a new contribution structure
  • raising deductibles
  • covering deductible raises with a gap plan
  • adding ancillary benefits to enhance the package

We realize that your company's needs will evolve, and we are here to serve you year round, not just at renewal. If you need to make changes at any time, please don't hesitate to ask.

Monthly Tip!
shot_preparation.jpg
Flu season will look different this year, as the country grapples with the pandemic.

Many Americans are reluctant to visit a doctor's office and public health officials worry people will shy away from being immunized.

Although sometimes incorrectly regarded as just another bad cold, flu also kills tens of thousands of people in the U.S. each year, with the very young, the elderly and those with underlying conditions the most vulnerable. When coupled with the effects of COVID-19, public health experts say it's more important than ever to get a flu shot.

Keep your company healthy - be sure to share this information with your employees.

Bonus: The flu shot is almost always covered by your health insurance plan.

Spotlight: HRA vs HSA
creditcards_scatter_laptop.jpg
We often get questions about whether to offer an HSA or an HRA.

Despite their similar and sometimes confusing acronyms and their overall purpose of allowing tax-free reimbursement of various types of medical expenses, health savings accounts (HSAs) and health reimbursement arrangements (HRAs) are quite different when you get down to the details. And it's these details that help an employer choose which approach is most appropriate for its goals and its employee population.

Appreciation
Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work." - Aristotle

Insurance isn't a glamorous profession by any means, but when we do our job here, we know we are helping people every day. We care about our clients and enjoy the variety in the work we do. It isn't always perfect, but we strive to get better throughout this journey. Your feedback is important to that goal, and we appreciate those of you that have taken the time to give us advice, refer us to others, and review us online.

Thank you for helping us take pleasure in what we do.
