Celebration from August!
Successful Leadership + Educational Symposium!
Our chamber, along with Elgin’s Chamber of Commerce hosted the 2020 Virtual Education & Leadership Symposium throughout the month of August.  These sessions covered a variety of topics including networking, sales and marketing, human resource policies and laws and leadership skills. We were pleased to have Ron Onesti, Onesti Entertainment, join us as our keynote speaker. He kicked-off our symposium by sharing multitude of leadership and business skills. Some of the highlights of the event included how to lead with intention, understanding how to best communicate with others, reviewing and analyzing your business plan, building your network and much more. The symposium ended with all speakers sharing how they are leading their team and businesses during these challenging times.

The symposium is a highlight of the chambers’ educational events. The mission of this event is to deliver quality content on the most relevant topics to enhance member’s business and professional growth. - Cindy Zemko, Education Committee Chair
Thank you to our Sponsors!
"I truly enjoyed the speakers! All had good information to share – I took lots of notes! I learned some new things and was reminded of some good practices which reinforced my prior knowledge. The handouts worked well as the speakers shared their screens. There was a nice dialogue on the final day – it was a great way to end the event!"

Opportunity in September!
Legislative Events + Education
Tis the season, no not the Christmas season, but election season. The St Charles Chamber of Commerce Legislative Committee is tasked with advocacy for both our members and the various legislative representatives on both the federal and state levels. We have a very diverse membership and all member issues are important to the Chamber legislative committee and it is our charge to help gather information for our members and disseminate it on a bipartisan basis for the benefit of our members. Today, we have a very diverse number of issues that are out in front of our business community including, taxes, Covid 19, unemployment, immigration to name a few of the issues that directly have or will impact our business community in the near future, if not already today. Our committee hopes to be a conduit to help educate on the issues, as well the candidates.

Our legislative committee meets once a month to review priorities and activities that are possible impacts to be presented and discussed with our members. The legislative committee is open to our members to participate and present thoughts and ideas to the committee for discussion or action. With all of the issues in front of all of us today, both on the business front and the personal front it is important to be informed of the issues that may truly make a difference in day to day lives. With that being said there is no time like the present to get involved. Educate yourself on the issues and candidates and participate in the process.

To help educate on the candidates we are sponsoring a series of forums with the various candidates, both Democratic and Republican which will offer insights into candidates and their platforms and an opportunity questions them on their stance on the issues and gain a personal perspective into who they are. Below you will find a link to the recordings of previous forums as well, as the registration link for future ones. Please take this opportunity to understand the issues to make your voter registration and vote count.

Message from the Chamber: Attached please find the second in our series of Meet the Candidate Forums; the format for these forums, which are intended to bring the candidates background, experience, campaign platform and priorities to our members, was unfortunately not followed by one of the candidates, who made several attempts to turn the conversation into a debate. This was not intentional on the part of the Chamber of Commerce and we did not position these forums as such.

Getting the Chamber Back to Business!
As we all learn to adapt our business models and practices in this new environment, the Chamber is focused on supporting its members in reaching their goals with safe and comfortable experiences. We have started using Visual Social Contact Bracelets (see below) which allows each individual to select a level of personally defined comfort for in person networking events, taking the stress out of participating. We will be using these bracelets at upcoming, in person events, and will hopefully allow our B2B community to get back to business, safely!

The B2B Roundtable is a community of professionals in the B2B space that helps its members overcome challenges, build relationships, and connect with others in the space so that they can increase their business opportunities. This group welcomes all B2B businesses to their socially distanced In Person Progressive Networking Event on 9/23, as well as their virtual meetings on 2nd + 4th Wednesdays through the rest of 2020!
