Lucky Dogs wrap up the Dog Daze of Summer!
Koda, pictured above, is one of the 40 lucky dogs who made a splash in the Park Foundation's 2020 Virtual Dog Daze drawing!

Hunter Mill District Supervisor Walter Alcorn selected five Top Dog entries enjoying the water.

“Congratulations to all who participated in the inaugural edition of virtual Dog Daze – it was a tough selection process since every entry is a top dog! It is well known that we love our dogs in Fairfax County, as well as our parks! We hope to welcome everyone back next year to the Water Mine Family Swimmin’ Hole at Lake Fairfax Park. Until then, stay healthy and enjoy Fairfax County parks!”

2020 Park Bond at a Glance

On November 3, 2020 Fairfax County voters will be asked to decide on a $112 million Park Bond.

Park bond approval will result in $100 million for Fairfax County Park Authority and $12 million for NOVA Parks. FCPA will use $100 million to finance land acquisition to expand parks, natural and cultural resource stewardship, and for new park development.

You can help advocate for the passage of the Park Bond by:
  • writing a Letter to the Editor in support of your parks;
  • displaying a Park Bond Yard Sign on your property; and
  • voting YES for the 2020 Park Bond.

If you still have questions or want to promote the passage of the park bond, please contact FCPF by email.

A Special Memorial Bench Story

A park bench was installed in September 2020 at Great Falls Nike Park near Field Number 4.  The bench was donated by The Langley Lacrosse Families and Friends as a memorial to honor the life of Dennis Morgan.

When asked about the bench donation program Cynthia Herberg commented, "there was never a question that the Langley Lacrosse family would come together to honor Dennis as best we could. When the bench donation program was brought to our attention, we all agreed that this lasting memorial was the perfect solution. To see Dennis' name placed in an environment where he spent so much time with his boys is a lasting tribute that many will see and enjoy."
