Ralph White Art Newsletter ~ September 2020
Greetings!
"The principles of true art is not to portray, but to evoke." ~ Jerzy Kosinski

Art should conjure up ideas and memories in the viewer. Do the images or colors evoke an emotion or association? It's not what you see, but what happens to you as you see it. Art is meant to induce sensation. It should make you feel something--peace or sadness, joy or anger, delight or fear. Even confusion would be a reaction. Art should raise awareness and start a conversation.

Sometimes there aren't words or metaphors to describe your emotions to a piece. You may just walk away shaking your head. But the memory of it will be etched in your mind. A good artist will create art to leave such an impression.

May you find inspiration in all that you see. Enjoy the process of exploration!

With warm regards,

Ralph White
