September 2021
Summer has started blending into fall in southeastern Pennsylvania. The days are a little shorter and the nights are a little cooler. Area vineyards and orchards have started their harvest which means the 2021 vintage wines will soon be moving off the vines and into tanks and barrels. It's a wonderful time to celebrate the diverse assortment of wines that are the hallmark of the Berks County Wine Trail. Read on! We've got just the event to help get that celebration started!
Wine & Cheese Pairing Event
After a long COVID pause, the Berks County Wine Trail brings back our favorite fall event. Wine & Cheese? You can hardly think of one without the other. Everyone is going to say "Yes Please!" Our eleven family-owned member wineries feature wine and cheese pairings that are guaranteed to "please" everyone with this classic match-up.

We’ve scheduled the event for two weekends, October 2-3 and 9-10. Advance tickets are available for just $15 through September 27 and $20 after that. Purchase online at the link below (processing fees apply), or in person at any of our wine trail locations (cash or checks only, please). Tickets are good for the featured pairings at each winery throughout all 4 event days. Most wineries charge a nominal tasting fee for sampling from the rest of their wine menu.

Here are just a few of the pairings our wineries have planned:
Weathered Vineyards - Lemon and Thyme Goat Cheese, an impressive tart and tangy spreadable cheese, is paired with our Solstice white wine blend. And classic Caprese salad gets a fun make-over when we serve it on a stick along side our Merlot whose dark berry notes perfectly compliment Italian cuisine!

Ridgewood Winery - Welcome back September Farms where two of their specialty cheddars are expertly paired with Ridgewood's Pinot Noir and award-winning Olde Orchard green apple wine.

Manatawny Creek Winery - Look for a spotlight on the Cabernet Franc grape. Nutty and flavorful Spanish Manchego cheese is paired with Manatawny's incomparable Cabernet Franc dry red wine. Next, velvety Cab. Franc Port is served with a creamy cheddar and port spread.
Long Trout Winery - Calling all Trout Scouts! Smoke Haus, "The Big Cheese", is bringing his assortment of smoked cheeses to enjoy with Long Trout wines! Pairings are Dark & Disturbing, a slightly sweet Steuben rosé, and Afternoon Delight, a crisp, dry Pinot Gris.

Stone Barn Cellars - We'll be pairing our rich and smooth Merlot with a touch of heat from a warm jalapeño cream cheese spread on a crusted baguette.

Deerfoot Farm - Cheeses from our friends at Haven Farmstead Table are planned. We'll pair Country Red, our best seller Concord-Riesling blend, with Fromage Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon alongside Vachetta, an aged Alpine-style cheese. Additional pairings with Brie and Farmhouse Tomme can also be purchased.

Watch our Events page for more pairing updates from all eleven Berks County Wine Trail member wineries and plan your self-guided tour with the help of our wine trail brochure and map.

Though well below the peak this past January, new COVID cases in Berks County are higher now than they were when state-mandated restrictions first started last spring. We are so happy be able to share our love for the wines of our region with you, but we also want everyone to stay safe. Some wineries may still ask that you wear your masks and be mindful of spacing between yourself and others when you visit. Thank you for your continued support.
