We are excited to announce that the UCSF APP Fellowship at UCSF Medical Center was awarded Accreditation with Distinction, the highest recognition awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Accreditation Program

The UCSF APP Fellowship was first awarded Accreditation with Distinction in 2018. This reaccreditation is the culmination of hundreds of hours of work led by Thomas Farley, RN, MS, ACNP-BC, Roxanne Garbez, RN, PhD, ACNP, and Kerry Decker, RN, MSN, ANP-BC, WHNP-BC. We are incredibly proud of this award and the nurse practitioner fellows who matriculate through our program. We are even more humbled by the preceptors, program directors, physicians, and leaders who support the program. The UCSF APP Fellowship thrives because of the dedication of our talented preceptors, the vision of the Office of Advanced Practice (Mitch Erickson, Kerry Decker, Thomas Farley, and the APP Advisory Board) and the support of Chief Nurse Executive Pat Patton and Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Sheila Antrum

THANK YOU and CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who contributes to the ongoing success of our UCSF APP Fellowship!

SOME ARTICLES ARE RELEVANT TO ADVANCED PRACTICE.
Inpatient Patient Flow
The following 3 areas: Emergency Department, 10CVT and Medicine Service are making significant efforts to improve patient flow.
The ED is working on reducing boarding time, 10CVT has shown improvement in accuracy of estimated discharge date to 60% at 12 hrs, and the Medicine service has initiated multidisciplinary rounds on the weekends.

How can you help with patient flow?

Consider these tips:
Discuss discharge plans with the patient/family the day prior, use the Discharge Lounge (at Parnassus Campus only) and escalate issues to the Patient Flow Control team via Voalte
