Greetings!

I am excited to announce the results of ACT's elections for our Board of Directors and introduce our newest members of the board for the 2022-23 term. Please join me in congratulating:
  • Diana Alarcon, City of Tucson
  • Jessica Alba, Stanford University
  • John Andoh, County of Hawaii Mass Transit Agency
  • Andy Keeton, Commutifi
  • Frank Mongioi, ICF
  • Lisa Kay Schweyer, Carnegie Mellon University

Serving as a Director on ACT's Board is just one of the ways you as a member can be engaged in overseeing and guiding the organization's activities. Soon we will open up our call for nominations to serve on one of ACT's seven national committees that focus on issues central to ACT's success, including: membership, professional development, diversity & inclusion, and public policy. These committees are a fabulous way for members to lend their expertise, take on a position of national prominence within the organization, give back to your association, and add new experiences to your professional growth. Stay tuned for more information on how to submit your statement of interest!

At its September meeting, the Board of Directors approved the formation of a task force to focus on the Future of Chapters to investigate and understand how ACT’s chapter model can strengthen the organization and help it achieve goals within our strategic plan, including the objective of fostering strong local TDM communities.

The task force, to include up to 13 members, will gather feedback from current and former chapter leaders and the membership at large to address and identify common challenges and opportunities. The task force will be empowered to make recommendations to the Board on any and all areas related to chapter operations, including: chapter models, geography, standard operating procedures, resource needs, leadership development, member engagement, programming, and any other items identified within its work.

If you would like to assist in this important effort, you are invited to submit a statement of interest by October 15, 2021.

Best regards,

David Straus

Accessible Avenue

Access to transportation determines whether or not more than 60 million Americans with disabilities can participate in the economic, social and civic arenas of the communities where they live. Cities, towns, universities and other organizations who provide transportation that is accessible and easy-to-use transforms lives, but achieving these high standards of accessibility and usability is difficult, and simply following the rules laid out in the Americans with Disabilities Act is not enough. Accessible Avenue exists to assist organizations who want to ensure that their mobility-related products and services are accessible and easy-to-use for everyone, including people with disabilities.

What are you and your organization seeking to achieve?
The goal at Accessible Avenue is a world where people with disabilities, older adults and other transportation disadvantaged people are able to go when and where they wish with the same...

Tuesday, September 28th at 1pm ET/10am PT

In Malcom Gladwell’s book, Blink, he is quoted saying “There can be as much value in the blink of an eye as in months of rational analysis.” This past year as result of C-19, the world was thrust into a constant state of change and uncertainty. Lacking a roadmap, organizations were challenged to rely on their instincts and TDM fundamentals to navigate the evolving landscape of commuting. This session will explore how taking the basic principles of behavior change and the application of technology help organizations achieve the agility needed to adapt to the new normal of commuting.
