September Greetings!
Hello All --

I try so hard not to start every newsletter by saying, "I can't believe it's [whatever month]" -- but really, September?! School starts this month which means big changes in daily routines in shelter life. We've also been able to partner with OHA and CSC to offer vaccine clinics in Linn County. Two more will happen next week; read more below!

We're VERY excited to be turning twenty years old this month! Instead of our quarterly Meet & Munch gathering this month, we'd like to have you join us for a drop-in birthday party! This is the first in-person event we've tried to plan in a looooong time, and we hope you'll come help us celebrate this milestone! More details below.

We know these are still stressful times, full of difficult decisions. May you find joy in helping others. Thank you for what you share with Jackson Street and the youth we serve together!

When: Drop in anytime between 3-6pm on Friday, September 10

Where: "Mission Central" (225 SW 4th St, Corvallis)

What: Drop by for a birthday cupcake, goodie bag, and optional tour with plenty of memorabilia from the last 20 years!

Who: We've invited staff, volunteers, Ambassadors, and board members to drop in and celebrate. This event is not open to the public.

COVID: This is a largely outdoor event; social distancing and masks are required both indoors and out.
Community Fundraisers in September
Press your own cider in North Albany with 50% of proceeds coming to Jackson Street!

You need to bring your own container, and there are different prices per gallon depending on if you bring your own apples (or pears!) or use apples available at the event.

Community Fundraisers are a meaningful way businesses and social groups connect and creatively support this work!
Fall Festival - Unique Volunteer Opportunity!
We've been invited to have the primary table at the large Craft Fair happening at First Christian Church of Corvallis on Saturday September 25th (10am-6pm) and Sunday 26th (10am-5pm).

This event overlaps with the Fall Festival and many people visit both events. We will follow all current COVID protocols in place at the time of the event. We provide booth training prior.

Please use this Sign-up Genius to sign up for a two hour shift at our booth!

This is a way to represent Jackson Street in the community and is hugely helpful to our small but mighty development team!
Program Highlight: Vaccine Clinics
This coming week will be the third and fourth vaccine events Jackson Street has been able to host on the street in partnership with CSC and Oregon Health Authority, who administered shots. Transportation is a huge barrier for our population, and young adults 15 and older may not have known that they can make their own health decisions.

Food and resources were available to homeless youth and those at risk of homelessness regardless of whether they chose to be vaccinated. During the first two events, we served 61 individuals; 11 chose to vaccinate.
Renovation News & Uprise Updates
It's really happening!! The renovation plans will add more beds and bathrooms so youth who need it can find safety. You can help by joining the #Uprise against youth homelessness. Create your own fundraising page as an individual or a team, or give a one-time gift. We are nearly 70% towards our goal!!
