Dear MMAMTA members,

I hope everyone is staying healthy and having a great transition into the beginning of Fall semester!

I’m very excited for all the upcoming performances and for a very productive school year filled with music!

If you are planning on registering for MTNA, don’t miss the deadline: Wednesday, September 15 at 3pm. Eastern Time.


MOSY has now three student orchestras, and rehearsals will start on September 11th.

Columbia is also gaining another student orchestra: The Missouri Academy of Music, which will meet on Tuesday evenings and will start rehearsing on September 14th.

Below I’m adding the upcoming recitals at Mizzou. I’m honored that Peter Miyamoto will be performing on the day of my birthday!

09/20 – Dan Willett, oboe; Natalia Bolshakova, piano at Sinquefield Music Center, Room: 132

09/26 – Iskander Akhmadullin, trumpet and Natalia Bolshakova, piano at Fine Arts Building, Room(s): Whitmore Recital Hall

Carnival of the Animals in 2022

Odyssey Chamber Music Series is bringing back "Carnival of the Animals" for the Kids@Heart this season! The 2022 concert is scheduled on Saturday, May 28 at 3pm. Odyssey director is currently collecting piano or any ensemble that concerns animals - and much more! There is no limit to using your imagination, where everyone expects the unexpected. Until January 2022, requests are limited to 2 ensembles per studio, up to 2 grand pianos or 8 hands for pianists; other instrumentalists . Everyone must be able to attend the dress rehearsal the night before, May 27, 2022 (Fri) 6-8pm in downtown Columbia. For requests or questions, please ask Ayako at
